One thing I always appreciated about Shakespeare's Falstaff is that wherever he might dine, a pack of dogs would gather about him. And gain a day's sustenance from the food that fell to floor between the plate and his mouth. Dogs love me in the same way.

Just curious: Is there any literature about crowds "maturing" over repeated experience with aggressive authority like they are seeing in Portland and Chicago?
