ADHD story from my life to demonstrate empathy:

I was doing a punchlist (architecture jargon for final walk through of a site before it’s ready for occupancy) in a detention center on the same day they were testing the fire alarms and security system alarms. I was so happy to be out of there. 😅

None of this means anything now because the federal government is shut down, so the Secretary of the Interior (and its subsidiary, the NPS) can’t do shit. Not like they had the power to stop this before, either. 😭

World Heritage Site. It’s so selective, that only around 50 buildings are on that list. The strongest thing the NPS can do is threaten to remove that label and hope it sways the project teams making changes to the building. It worked for the Academy of Music in Philly. It didn’t work for +

Historic Preservation code in the US is weak, practically non-existent. On the federal level, the Secretary of the Interior is responsible for managing buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The White House is also a National Historic Landmark - a designation similar to a UNESCO +

You know what? Thanks for validating my irritation. I deny myself the luxury because the people I’m irritated at are trying their best to manage an unwieldy workload that swamps them (just like me), and they don’t need the drama.

Agreed. I’ve experienced enough rejection sensitivity dysphoria to know that jealousy gets the best of us.

I’ve been the one wanting the job that someone else was hired to do. I didn’t lash out because it wasn’t their fault, but it sucked so bad. I was unhappy. I know now, for me, it was RSD.
