Thanks, Mike! --your tardy co-host, Ken.

Yep, new episode is up! Check out our reactions to your lead actors doing their best Nick Fury impersonation & trying to land the finale of Series 6's convoluted season-long plot. #DoctorWho

Show me a mug to match your mood.
I'll go first.
Mug stating: You may think that I am listening to you, but in my head I am about to exterminate someone.
Honestly, this opinion is something I wish I thought more about, because I agree 100%. For all the playfulness of Smith's Doctor, he was able to shift in a split-second to this Ancient Being - with just a look! A nuanced, masterful performance. #DoctorWho

Happy Birthday to the garrulous, magnetic, mesmerizing Colin Baker! Without his contributions as the Sixth Doctor, we wouldn't have even started our podcast, @preparethetimelash.bsky.social. Enjoy your day, sir! #DoctorWho
While we record a new episode this weekend, check out our last bonus episode: THE SEA DEVILS! Mike & Ken talk about this often-overlooked story, how good it is, & how cool the Sea Devils were before they put on samurai armor. Five rounds rapid, listeners! #doctorwho open.spotify.com/episode/5hgG...

Wait, we did?! OMG. I'm losing it! It wouldn't be the first time I forgot I listened to a BF story, but... but...
Oh, I've KNOWN about it! It was the inspiration for the excellent Eccleston episode, "Dalek." That's why I'm surprised that I never got around to listening to it until this week. -Ken

Oh hell, I'd love to know the backstory of that! --Ken
Hard to believe that I never listened to @bigfinish.bsky.social's 2003 release, JUBILEE, by Robert Shearman. It is outstanding. My jaw literally dropped several times while listening to it! It's right up there with BF's best, on par with The Rocket Men and Davros. Give it a listen! #DoctorWho
That was a big question in my mind, too. Why tease us for two consecutive seasons?
There's now lots of discussion regarding hurriedly shot new footage for the #DoctorWho finale, based in part on this photo from a scene not in the finished episode. *Did* Ncuti decide at the last minute, necessitating new scenes to be shot? Would that explain the awkward, abrupt Belinda sendoff?
Excellent point I'd overlooked among the crazy events in the finale. Totally agree she likely saved more episodes than we realized. Oddly, too, these 2 seasons have been closer in tone to Chibnall's than Moffat's or even RTD's first run. The 1st 10 amazing yrs of modern #DoctorWho seem far away now.
Watching tonight's ep, it strikes me if you'd only seen her first minute and last minute in the role, you'd assume you'd missed out on the peak of the show.

I've shifted from 'not her fault' to 'she must have salvaged more than we'll ever know'.
For every instance where the Classic stories are guilty of padding, there's at least one instance of quality character writing that leads to rich supporting characters as in "Genesis." The Modern era's episodes should make more time for that.
Low bar, certainly, but probably. His novelization of "Revelation of the Daleks" is actually quite good.
The Joker/Creeper 6-issue buddy comedy I've always wanted. 😁
Whenever we do get new #DoctorWho, it should ideally have 2 things:
1) A different showrunner. RTD too often approaches stories as though he's wishing on Baby Desiderium.
2) A return to a smaller core cast, especially in the finales. I love Kate & UNIT, but not the Towering Inferno-size cast.
One major thing DID bug me: What was the deal with *this* Omega?! RTD paid proper homage to Sutekh last year (even if the story was messy), so why did he trash the classic version of Omega and give us a ripoff of the Beast from his own era's "The Satan Pit"? Just CALL it the Beast at that point.
