One month ago today on August 8, 2025, DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose, 33, was killed in the line of duty while responding to an active shooter near the CDC headquarters in Atlanta.
Immigration arrests are surging in Georgia under Trump.

New federal data shows 5,670 arrests in the first six months of his administration, compared to 1,570 in Biden’s final six months.

Although the Trump Administration has issued executive orders aligned with the removal of protection for people in the LGBTQ+ community, the University System of Georgia's Board of Regents enacted these policy changes in November of 2024, months before Trump's inauguration.
The UGA Equal Opportunity Office changed the wording of its Non-Discrimination Policy. Until early April, the policy included sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, and pregnancy as "protected classes." By the end of April, those classes were omitted from the policy.
Students returned to classes at UGA last week and noticed something alarming.
