I am still plural btw it’s just everyone refuses to mark themselves . So it always says it’s me and sometimes it fuckin isn’t
Like the easy explanation makes the joke stop being funny bc “metrosexual is a straight guy who looks gay” sounds homophobic so I have to fully explain the history every time and by that point it ends in “what? Why??” Instead of “Ahaha what a silly cat you have”
It confuses me bc I’m 22 I was alive in the early 2000s did other people’s parents not explain pop culture jokes to them growing up

Also I call my cat a metrosexual as a joke bc he wears a lilac bow tie & bc of his personality & I’ve had to explain the joke to so many people

When I was a kid I read this story about a puppy who loved her human big brother so much she slowly transformed into a human to be his sister through sheer power of will and at the time I found it very novel and now I know like 12 girls who fit this description
Bluey is Australian though so he’d just start making weirder references
But like you know vaguely what the book is about . Not any of the characters’ names though.
When you have to take part in a discussion in English class but you didn’t do the assigned reading & could only find the previews of paywalled essays about it on the way to school
Her headband even looks like the little hair tufts on the punk guy
It is notable that the comic gave me a lot of new vocabulary for things that were first coming into my life at that time & was very beautiful + as an adult reflecting on some of the stuff I listened to constantly as a kid helped me recontextualise my grieving process when I was 13-17
Anyway that’s not super related. I haven’t been permanently damaged by Bright Eyes or reading an adult webcomic about identity, mental health, kink, and consent when I was 12 (I don’t say what it was bc I don’t want to make the author uncomfy) but Poe did shape my entire personality so…
But I wasn’t allowed to watch The Hunger Games when it came out & when I was in middle school my mom wouldn’t let me play GTA she made my dad delete it
When I was a kid for some reason my mom had age restrictions for shows, movies, and video games but music and books was “literally whatever” so I was a daisy scout listening to Conor Oberst sing about slowly dying from drug addiction & his trans cousin’s suicide & reading Edgar Allan Poe constantly
that took the horror away. That was the fact that countries aren’t real, they’re imaginary lines, and every human everywhere has the capacity for good and the capacity for evil. That many, many humans will oppose atrocity without even thinking of it as taking a stance. It’s just a given. That’s hope
had loud voices arguing for just letting it happen, and that similarly in every “bad guy” country there were countless ordinary people who instinctively decided “this cannot happen and I won’t allow it to even if it’s the smallest scale rebellion I can manage” because that reminded me of something
Later I became obsessed with the question of “how could this have happened” and obsessively read articles and journals about the countless atrocities and ironically the thing that brought peace back to me was learning that the USA did horrible things, that all countries hailed as the “good guys”
have to. That when it came to the idea of letting their friends, neighbours, & peers be slaughtered, even people who were targets themselves would instinctively give up their precarious safety to have a chance at protecting another person. That was what I learned at the time.
I learned about the Holocaust when I was 7 bc I read a bunch of fiction abt it at the same time & my mom added Anne Frank’s diary so I’d have a real voice to attach to the fiction & it was harrowing yes but something I learned that was my hope was that ordinary people can and WILL be heroes if they
I assume that’s his blood
It does!!! Since this is very similar to the base costume he has I will assume he is chill not putting a notch in his ear cover
Socks are a lot less daunting a task. And then I think I’ll get my pink yarn and put a bow on his tail, then add string to the wings to tie bows on his wrists so he can hold up the wings. Still haven’t looked for those undies I made in roughly his size but I’ll figure it out
I’m thinking since a whole sweater is hard work I might make him a white apron with a pink heart on it!
I am very curious, Batty, as to whether Achilles values his ear notch more or canon accurate costuming!! So I know whether to add a notch in the ear cover!

Also I’m hoping to find some clear files at school tomorrow to turn that cardboard into sunglasses for him haha
Achilles Count Fabulous costume update: I think I’ve reached levels of cutesy that were previously unknown

(Tagging @batshaped.bsky.social again since he’s her guy! If u want me to stop tagging u batty just lmk but if not I’ll update when I’ve finished his costume!)
They weren’t made with a tail hole but I cut corners on them so I think I could find one in the stitching. He’d probably enjoy some stockings with garters too, right? I mean I gotta manage my expectations I have college but I love him so consider that before assuming I can resist
