The main debate is about me saying that calling Trump Hitler is not smart and will help him more than it will hurt him. Calling him (neo)fascist is the way to go.
Hitler-esque is not the same as Hitler, he’s a neofascist. That was my etire point. Also, the „roman salute” is not unique to nazis. All types of fascist do it.
I’m not being nice to him, but precise termibology is needed to fight him. If you call him Hitler and literally a nazy, that can be rebuted. Experience right wingers will tear you apart. If you call him a neofascist, not so much. He ticks all the boxes.

It does align, it’s called neofascism and it is a form of fascism, just like nazism. That being said, it is not (literally) nazism. It might not seem like an important distinction, but it makes a ton of difference when combating it or explaining it to smb neutral. Calling him Hitler does not help.

Firstly, the comunists had their own concentration camps called gulags where many horrors took place. You can argue the nazi ones were worse, but prison in an average communist country (Romania) was no vacation. My idea is one could not be openly gay in either.
I did know that, they went for ethic cleansing at some point (St. Miller’s wet dream) but Trump is not there yet and I’m not sure if he’ll ever get there.
Still, calling Trump Hitler will not help your cause. It will make you look bad in the eyes of moderates. Just lead with the facts/examples.
Sure, but I have to remind you soviet countries were called „communist countries” (and still are) and the CCP is still referred to as the CCP (not the Chinese Fake Communist Party) even now by virtually all media. Most people don’t know what theoretical communism is.
