There's lots of different symbols, and sometimes they get combined (like the snake & Z-rod). These are some of them, skilfully drawn by the extremely talented @elemei.bsky.social for my book, Carved in Stone, available for pre-order now 👀👀. (4)

Various animal symbols , as part of a larger cropped page from Carved in Stone. The animals include: wolf, snake, bull, salmon, stag, boar, eagle, goose, horse, a "bird" (quite duck-like), a "cat" (quite monkey-like) and a "beast".

Various geometric Pictish symbols (like crescents, circles, and lines) and representational symbols (like a mirror and comb).

Thank you for bearing with me while I posted a lot all at once! It was fun for me to revisit, I hope it is fun to look at as well. We're caught up to 2025 now, so eventually I'll share some more of this year's work I haven't posted here yet.

2022 was fun, shout out to the friends who invited me to work in their studio space and do a lot of risograph printing. Also ft. a couple illustrations for the game Girl by Moonlight.

2021 was also the year I read a bunch of x-men comics and completely lost my mind. Have some 80s Magneto, Krakoa cherik, and also Goblin Queen Enoch as a bonus treat

In 2021-22 I was fortunate & able to take about a year off from working a real job. I had more time & creative drive, and I made a lot of work that I'm still really proud of. Here's some Blades in the Dark art from 2021.

Also from 2018, I went on a trip to Iceland with light grey art lab and met so many wonderful inspiring people!! I'm really grateful to have kept in touch with so many of them. Iceland itself was also beautiful.

In 2018 I was listening to cherubim by serpentwithfeet while walking to work and was struck with a VISION of a full comic about a trapped priestess and the bodyguard who helps her escape. I've never given up on revisiting this one day!! Maybe if I post this, it will motivate me to get back to it.

My favorite drawings from 2017 are also all observational sketches. I Did carefully draw every individual musician in that symphony practice session and Was very proud of myself, not gonna lie.
