two things if this poll holds true:

1) they would dummymander themselves into being a one party democrat state.

2) no way the texas AG and Governor accept the results, texas might end up being the first state just to ignore elections and hope that works

the thing is, Newsom would probably be a brilliant Princeps, he has the ego, know how and balls to be America's Augustus and even make it work for Americans

But princeps are bad! by definition, him being good at it, and wanting it is the very reason he must never be in that position

Augustus died believing he had restored the republic! the princeps was in his eyes a perfectly 'republican' position, he says so in his texts.

Future princeps where also chosen at times by the senate, its not until Diocletian that we get true autocratic despotism (the dominate)

I think there are three potential futures

1) Newsome's american principate
2) Pritzkers American social democracy
3) AOC's New Deal (similar to 2, but more outwardly woke, and basically ends acceptable misogyny)

all three will do things that were seen as mad a decade ago (add new states etc)

or put someone in the presidency who is weak enough that they can't defend it, and then have a speaker who strong enough to force congress to seize back its powers, if trump falls due to impeachment or protest, with vance, it should be president booker/jefferies and speaker AOC imo

i think the worst outcome for america is that trump goes but the imperial presidency survives, and presidents having control of the purse becomes the norm even for dems (looking at you Newsome)

basically the american republic becomes the american principate

the 15 billion is the active duty alone, if you add civillians, and veterans it balloons to 40 billion.

yeah but, the militaries combined monthly salary is $ 15 billion, even if this is legal, they are still $7 billion short, which means some units are not getting paid on the 15th

assuming they can pull this off in 4 days, two a weekend, mid shutdown, with a gutted federal apparatus anyway.

i genuinely believe he views life like a hoi4 mod, where you complete the 'get rid of judges tree' and you get new features.

I doubt he actually comprehends what would happen if he fails, and breaks the regime, or even if he wins and causes a constitutional crisis

four options come to mind:

1) quotas are too high so they need to split up to catch more people
2) protests in local area are diverting resources
3) they are not getting paid because shut down so most are calling in sick
4) manpower shortages mean two man teams is all they can spare

I find it interesting that ICE only had a two man team here, at the start of the year they would use overwhelming numbers.

i think he loses, time and time again he has tried to get the army to commit to his cause, and the courts and cow democrat governors, and time and time again, he's failed.

a massive protest, the army ignoring his orders, governors like pritzker being defiant, will be the likely result

Going to be a bad time for Miller and Homan, when they can do mass deportations, deal with protests, because trumps shutdown means ICE agents are not getting their inflated salaries, and the big man needs someone to blame whose not him
