Muenster is a shockingly good melting cheese that I am always pleased to find on any sandwich. Underrated cheese for sure.
Casting was great! I’ve never played Modern but you and @ryanoverdrive.bsky.social made it very easy to understand the decks and strategies as they unfolded. Have to answer your midcast exclamation, “Isn’t Magic awesome?” with an affirmative, yes it is.
The one weird hill I’d die on is that Metric is way better than Imperial for everything, except for Air Temperature. Fahrenheit is the better temp gauge in that one specific instance because it has more units and they better outline the human-comforable sphere.
I use them to make sopapilla cheesecake for work potlucks/celebrations and everytime they disappear in under 5 minutes. I could hand-make a puff pastry that would taste better, but it would take me two days to make the dessert then rather than 30 minutes assemble and 30 minutes baking.
The father from Cujo shows up in a short story collection put out by King during the pandemic and hoo boy was he f’d up by the whole ordeal even though he wasn’t involved in the actual horrific events.
Double-humped camel instead of the traditional single hump is certainly one of the more unique mana curves I’ve seen. But Cormela ramping you immediately up and skipping like 2-3 turns makes sense of how it’s ended up here.
Adorable scrungly cat’s perch is an equally battered and beloved arm chair? Perfection.
This is TWO sets ahead. We have Avatar in November, Lorwyn Eclipsed in January, then TMNT comes out in February.
The ideal format for UB to me was what they did with Dr. Who and Fallout. A couple of Commander decks, Collector’s Boosters, and only legal in Commander. People get their favorite properties but they don’t impact the underlying game as a whole. Having to make UB mechanics “work” for Standard sucks.
I’m just at the point where I don’t care what IP’s they want to bring in ultimately. But the hill I’d die on is that these should not be products in a comp 1v1 format. If they’re legal in Modern or Standard, you don’t get to choose whether you interact with them or not.
Honestly partly why I got back into anime. The hype and discussion threads week-to-week just make for a far more enjoyable experience overall.
Had someone explain this phenomena as how knowledge expands outwards as a circle, it eventually becomes a donut. You forget how you acquired the basics that were foundational to your greater experience and they fade into the background.
Had this come up the other day when I has a young coworker ask how to do a cross examination. And the first thought in my head was “just ask good questions”. Which is absolutely worthless to someone who doesn’t know what to ask to begin with.
Heroes of Light from FF1 were a party of four. It’s just a group comp that works yeah know?
I find it a very useful technique in my practice as a lawyer. When people get their blood up they expect you to match their energy in response. Denying them then is very discombobulating.
Nominative determinism looking less and less like a fringe theory when a dude named Goone runs a convention called Sexcon lol.
Said the same shit about us Millenials. Same article, different generation, every 15 years lol.
“We do not beg, we do not borrow, we do not ask, we take the mind".
Bradbury’s my favorite author specifically for this and “Something Wicked This Way Comes.” They make a wonderful pairing to read one after another this time of year.
It’s even more childish than what people think. They didn’t “replace” Biden. It’s stupider than that. He literally created this entire exhibit FROM SCRATCH just so he could put this photo up instead of Biden. These portraits didn’t exist a week ago.
There more than two options between isolationism and imperialism. And the argument is that we shouldn’t go back to being the global hegemon as long as were only a single election away from trying to wreck the global order. We can have plenty of international involvement w/o being world police.
I used to enjoy cracking one collector’s boostie per set. You know just for fun and a taste of some of the cool art treatments, even if I knew it wasn’t likely to come close to equaling my money spent. But I just can’t for these UB set prices. $50-70 bucks for a single booster is just insane.
Definitely feels like this is the endgame for Part 2 but what I love about Fujimoto is that I can never accurately predict what he’s doing next.
God yeah, that banner was amazing.
