This is my 2nd cousin 3 times removed Charles (originally Caleb) Dearing. Coming from a family of agricultural labourers, he served in the army in India, later becoming a gymnastics instructor at Bradford Grammar School.
The little boy holding the blackboard is my 2nd cousin twice removed William (Billy) Tew, who later emigrated from Oxfordshire to Canada.
DNA link yesterday with 4th cousin Brenda, the Bard of Banbury, who wrote this poem.
I bought my copy for 20p in a remaindered book sale in WH Smith Leicester (I was studying there) in 1971: still have it.
