You’ve got to wonder about the mentality of people who come into an empty lecture theatre and sit right on the end of a row so that everyone else needs to get past them to use the rest of the seats.

She runs an event management company. The story even mentions that it was her job skills that prompted her to jump in and help manage a difficult crowd situation. Her job is not 'mum'. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Nice. XO by XLN Audio has something similar for browsing samples but I have no idea how that works.
Got a new PC at work because of Windows 11. Still think it's really idiotic that they removed the ability to reposition the task bar on the side - something you could do since it existed. I have all this monitor width, but no, the task bar has to take up some of the much more precious height.
I see. Makes sense. I glad that speed controls exist though. Imagine listening on CD or cassette even.
Why do audiobook narrators speak so goddam slowly. I'm not one for speeding through these things, but I have to speed most of them up to 1.3x or 1.4 just so the narrator is speaking at normal coversational speed. If I slow it down to 1x it really sounds like they are drunk or doing a funny voice.
With the state graph they can also plot the optimal path from start to goal state. It can highlight if there is a critical state that all solutions must pass through. Neat stuff.
An absolute legend has re-implemented notoriously difficult puzzle game Stephen's Sausage Roll, charted the entire state-space of levels and made a 3d visualization of the state space where you can zoom in on nodes and see the game in that state.

Keep on draining that swamp lol
Everyone laughed at the crew in Prometheus for not taking precautions, but I'm rewatching The X-Files and Mulder and Scully are at least as bad. A scientist just got blasted in the face with a highly infectious disease because Scully decide she had to examine a corpse without biohazard gear.
Does it need to be a shooter? Can I hug my way out?
So many 74-series logic chips!
Ed Zitron really muscling in on the old Cory Doctorow grift huh.
And I have pretty good eyesight by the way, I just hate reading tiny type. Esp. on cheaply printed paperbacks. Penguin is suprisingly one of the worst offenders.
I'm old enough now that I really need Amazon to show a scan of one page from any paperback they sell, along with a scale, so I can tell if it's too small to read. Multiple times I've bought a paperback, then had to buy a used hardback copy just because the paperback type to too small to read.
Calm down Marx and Engels. No one has time for this.
Oh yes. First time I played a network game, I took my PC to my friend's house. We'd both bought NE2000 compatible ISA network cards. I had some coax, t-connectors and terminators I'd scavenged from work and we got Doom deathmatch running. Awesome fun :)
