This kinda describes me to a T, there's so many times I've gotten into something, wanted to make it work SO bad, but that gnawing fear that if something goes wrong, it's not just the project that failed, I failed as a person

It's hard untangling that, but I'm trying ❤️

Found this on the AO3 subreddit, and I'm about to let it change my whole life (or at least work really hard to internalize it wrt my writing).
Someone's screenshot of a two-post twitter thread, from user blue (@bluewmist):

the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

Explain your username

I used to have an orange cat fursona and orange cats are weird little guys. Weird little guy also hadn't been turned into a negative term yet
I refuse to give it up tho
Also wyrd

Explain your username:

I like Final Fantasy Behemoths and I like alliteration in my usernames.

Also I spend a lot of my time in a bemused state so, here we are.

O-on that note...since Paypal is back open and I've basically gone the Normal Person Equivalent of missing a week's paycheck.

Um...

There will probably be a fund goal here soon if you want your money to Go To Something, but meanwhile support is nice.

Wait, did I just find a Belfort and Lupin video essay that examines the cartoon under the queer lens of LGBTQ history at Versailles with an appreciation for french cartoons?

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Magdalena Bay would probably be your type: Image, Second Sleep, Top Dog, Killshot, etc. Very synthy in the 2000’s sense.

Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

Anemone (2025): A film that bores you in the first act, and leaves you hanging for more right when the film ends. The more I think about this movie, the more I wished it pushed towards the Lynchian style that you get glimpses of from time to time, but never fully get.
robinandrebel.bsky.social
What Do We See When We Look Up At The Sky? (2021): A mouthful of a title that most definitely fits the films sense of grandiose and warmth. A Live-Action Ghibli film that can give a simple dog walking down a sidewalk an arc, and a storm drain life. Probably another modern classic for me.
robinandrebel.bsky.social
Only Yesterday (1991): A film that perfectly portrays the idea of nostalgia (both good and bad). Slow and soothing, just like a cool, summer day.
robinandrebel.bsky.social
Diary Of A Country Priest (1951): It wasn’t until after this movie that I found that I prefer his later films compared to his earlier films. Maybe it’s because he refines his style later in life, but this one was still interesting to watch for the religious banter alone.
robinandrebel.bsky.social
Sibyl (2019): Such a huge gap in quality between this and Anatony Of A Fall. While it does go into psychological erotic thriller, it doesn’t really get interesting until the third act, which, by the time we get there, I got tired.
robinandrebel.bsky.social
Four Nights Of A Dreamer (1971): Another Bresson Banger, that focuses on love and identity. Wonderful cinematography, and even better music (which, for Bresson, is crazy to even say).
robinandrebel.bsky.social
Black Bag (2025): A slow burner with probably the most entertaining Third Act that got my heart pounding. Cate and Michael work well as a couple, and the supporting actors also pull their weight.
robinandrebel.bsky.social
Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022): Other than having a great hook and great cinematography, I wasn’t the fan of this one. It was too bloated and tried to do a lot with its simple premise.
robinandrebel.bsky.social
The Hateful 8 (2015): It’s a definitely the Tarantino movie of all time. There’s other movies from his filmography that do better, writing and direction wise, but it did keep my attention, so there’s that…
robinandrebel.bsky.social
Punch-Drunk-Love (2002): Finally watched this, and I’m just gonna say that 17-year-old me would be the most annoying POS about how great this movie is. But as of now, just another great movie.
robinandrebel.bsky.social
Nashville (1975): A definitive American Epic with a capital A. Crazy how they were able to put this all together. Only thing I didn’t like was the ending, but other than that, a great movie.
