EGNOS V2 has shown resilience during the 2025 solar peak. This year, we began the operational use of GEO-3 with EGNOS V243, further reinforcing system performance.

What’s next? Extended coverage, authentication, and increased availability - all contributing to EU resilience.

EGNOS Workshop 2025:

EGNOS continues to grow. In 2024, EGNOS ESMAS became operational, bringing new benefits to maritime. We are working to combine EGNOS with Galileo HAS, OSNMA and Copernicus to support safer, cleaner navigation. This also extends to @ertms.bsky.social.

When in the Netherlands: just a short walk from Noordwijk beach, you’ll find the Galileo Reference Centre.

Together with DG DEFIS colleagues, we visited the GRC, monitoring Galileo’s performance daily. It provides EUSPA and EU stakeholders with an independent check on the quality of GNSS services.
This image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 18 February 2025, shows the Galileo Reference Centre in Noordwijk. The image shows a group of DG Defis and EUSPA colleagues visiting the Galileo Reference Centre and posing for a picture.

Galileo OSNMA answers the call for a stronger, more resilient GNSS. By safeguarding signal authenticity, it enhances protection for critical services across key industries, marking a major milestone in the EU’s commitment to secure space-based services.
euspa.bsky.social
EUSPA is launching Galileo OSNMA, a new authentication mechanism that lets users verify the integrity of E-GNSS data. It provides critical protection as spoofing attacks rise.

With this, Galileo becomes the first GNSS to offer global authentication in its Open Service.

Celebrating 15 years of achievements of the independent EU Space Security Accreditation Board (SAB) this week.

On 26 June in Prague, we celebrated 15 years of the EU Space Security Accreditation Board (SAB), the independent body securing the EU Space Programme. From PRS demos to key high-level discussions, the event reflected on achievements and future resilience.

www.euspa.europa.eu/newsroom-eve...
On 26 June, we gathered in Prague to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the EU Space Security Accreditation Board (SAB).
Since its establishment in 2010, the SAB has played a vital role in supporting the security of all EU Space Programme components by acting as the independent security accreditation authority, distinct from the European Commission, EUSPA, and the European Space Agency - ESA. Making decisions from satellite launches to system updates, the SAB ensures that security risks are assessed and mitigated in line with the Union’s needs. Key discussions centred on cybersecurity, threats, and the critical importance of the services for the civil and military users provided by the EU Space Programme.

As the EU continues to advance its space policy goals, the SAB will remain a cornerstone of collective responsibility, fostering cooperation across all Member States to keep Europe’s space assets secure.

One market.
One rulebook.
One EU Space Act 🛰️⚖️🇪🇺

As space becomes crowded, we need clear, common rules to reduce costs, risks & threats.

With the EU Space Act, we’re stepping up to make space safer, more sustainable, and more resilient.

A first step for the EU’s internal market for space, a giant leap for generations to come.

The Space Act we are putting forward today supports the growth of space activities and safeguards EU strategic interests in orbit.

Europe unites to lead, creating a single market that works for all. Track debris. Protect infrastructure. Keep space sustainable for generations. From start-ups to giants, all shall thrive. Safer space. Stronger Europe. Shared future."
