we need to abolish this shit

Also every dungeon was Mythic+ (timed, deaths penalized) and you had to do ALL OF THEM and all of the Adventures and World Bosses.

Then later you could buy a skip for real money.

There was a period of time where I would laugh at LLMs fucking up cake recipes and making paint colors like "Sindis Poop".

Now AI has cost me at least one job, poses an existential threat to artists, and STILL FUCKS UP CAKE RECIPES.

This is an anti-AI post by the way. I'm just lamenting that my utopian science fiction view of the future is tainted by the harsh realities of fascism.

When I was a child, I thought that being able to generate a full animation just by writing would be neat, since I can't physically draw.

...now we have people sending Zelda Williams AI deepfakes of her deceased father and a fascist president using it to make racist memes.

Fucking monkeys paw...

Look, if you're a young woman with supernatural powers you've been told to hide your entire life by your parental figures and you're in an animated musical, you GOTTA have the one long braid. I don't make the rules.

I was genuinely surprised to learn that Banyue was from Zenless Zone Zero. I thought he was like, Bara Zenyatta.

Well fuck, if Bsky is also going to shut, where do I go?

It makes me wonder if the whole concept of community organizations and projects has been undermined by the idea that any such organization, at least in a suburb, is inherently corrupt.

...but it's also 4 AM and I'm rambling.
roscoegator.bsky.social
It also doesn't seem like a coincidence that HOAs, which are community run organizations dedicated to maintaining a specific neighborhood, and which can (in some cases) represent a form of collective action, are painted as the villains.

You're repeatedly shown the worst case scenario.
roscoegator.bsky.social
I never really considered it before, but this could be right wing propaganda. Glorifying the hard working farmer and villifying the suburban wife while glossing over the fact that the farmers are often the wealthier and more powerful figures in the narrative.
roscoegator.bsky.social
The idea of a wealthy, presumably colleges educated women moving from the coast to the countryside makes me think of a Coastal Elite vs Good Ol Country Boy narrative. A lot of these stories even mention their antagonists abusing social services and leeching off their communities via embezzlement.
roscoegator.bsky.social
It only just occurs to me that these stories pit independently wealthy, typically male farmers against stereotypical suburban white women. Who have become a sort of societal scapegoat.

A left-leaning reader would likely assume these Karen characters are right-leaning, but there's ambiguity.
roscoegator.bsky.social
These stories are, in the vast majority of cases, pure fiction. While HOAs can be awful (ours had two board members fight each other with metal chains as weapons), Reddit makes it seem like there is an epidemic of suburban organized crime.

Or, at least, obnoxious busy bodies.
roscoegator.bsky.social
Often, this involves the HOA Karen doing comedically evil, almost mafia like behavior. Harassment, stealing property, physical violence...

But OP manages to turn the table through legal action or by manipulating their surprising number of resources and connections to put the HOA in its place.
roscoegator.bsky.social
The typical pattern, if you're unfamiliar, is this.

> OP is a farmer working a plot of land that usually has been in their family for generations.
> A community with a HOA opens up nearby.
>HoA Karen (a stock character at this point) tries to get OP to join HoA. They refuse.
> Shenanigans ensue.
roscoegator.bsky.social
This has inspired a tangent. I've been listening to a lot of Reddit stories lately (white noise during job applications), and a common theme on some channels is the whole corrupt HOA vs Farmer narrative.

I hadn't given it much thought before, but now that I think of it... Well, see thread.

Fun Fact: Most american farmers are rich. They're millionaires. They did this on purpose! The last time under Trumpthey got million dollar bailouts they could pocket and are banking on it again!

Farm workers are poor, but most owners are VERY well off and only saw Trump as a quick rich scheme!
sarahtaber.bsky.social
This is why it's so important that US agriculture quit its "positive vibes only!" strategy and actually learn from its own mistakes.

So we can stop repeating them already.

Anyway, here's the next Egyptian cotton: Argentine & Brazilian soybeans.

Meanwhile, the government is busy removing pride flags and disappearing people, so they can't spare a person to adjudicate my case. Yaaaaay...

Certainly not for anything biceptember related.

The thing about tariffs and bailouts is they appear universal but can be so specific and targeted they amount to trump going "were going to tax people who didn't vote for me and use the outrage to negotiate a bail out of people who can personally make me more rich"

Not even 20 minutes later and I guess we’re doing 50% tariffs on IKEA for some reason. He’s a man with a plan to make life more expensive and he can’t be stopped.
We will be imposing a 50% Tariff on all Kitchen Cabinets, Bathroom Vanities, and associated products, starting October 1st, 2025. Additionally, we will be charging a 30% Tariff on Upholstered Furniture. The reason for this is the large scale “FLOODING” of these products into the United States by other outside Countries. It is a very unfair practice, but we must protect, for National Security and other reasons, our Manufacturing process. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
