That extra at bat from Yelich really came in handy
ruby773.bsky.social
Inexplicably altering the lineup after games 1 and 2 like that will do it.
ruby773.bsky.social
Well, you know Yelich in left wont be a complete disaster like how Isaac Collins defense has been lately. It can’t get any worse than that.
ruby773.bsky.social
How has Isaac Collins’s defense fallen off so dramatically, in such a short time span?
ruby773.bsky.social
Haven’t played well for over a month now.

That’s around the # of PA he gets every year, and he still falls off a cliff. He has always had the gaudy savant numbers. Thats not new for Bauers. But through close to 2,000 career PA- Those numbers never match his statline. Not sure why this yrs sample makes you think he will buck the trend.

Bauers stinks. He’s only played in 83 games this season too. It’s a small sample. He historically starts off hitting well before falling off a cliff. Even last year- 103 wRC+ through 83 before falling off a cliff through the end of the year.

Well.. the sample size is significantly lower than it was last yr. He’s only played in 83 games.

This happens every year with Bauers. He starts off well, and then when he gets more playing time and gets exposed, the drop off happens.

202 thru 83 games: 103 wRC+
Games 82-162: 70 wRC+

The poor play on the road from this team this month is cause for concern.
ruby773.bsky.social
They’ve been playing bad baseball for almost a month now.
ruby773.bsky.social
At the start of the year didn’t they say they “learned from last year” and were gonna give Contreras more time off?

Now he has a broken finger, hitting poorly, and is getting more playing time. The math doesn’t add up here.

Send down Priester, DFA Alexander. I would love for them to get rid of Civale. I think spending $8 million on him, as a cheap team, was a really poor move. They can always go to a 6 man rotation, move someone to the bullpen. There are solutions. You cant just demote your best pitcher.

I’d be hard pressed to find another Major League Baseball team sending down their best pitcher (Patrick leads the team in fWAR) just because he has options. That does not seem like a winning move.

Need to start treating Yelich as a platoon bat.
ruby773.bsky.social
Yelich is taking to DH? In what way? Because the numbers absolutely do not bear this out- no matter the angle you look at this from.
ruby773.bsky.social
Not surprising. He was never a great prospect and this was always the expected outcome. The only reason he got any hype was because he was traded for Devin Williams.
ruby773.bsky.social
That’s insane. Tobias was one of the best starters in the NL last year and was critical to the team. Off to a slowish start- but nothing offensively bad. (3.86 era, in a small sample). You have to give guys like him….a lot more rope.

This seems like a very bad message to send to the clubhouse.

When the position player group is filled with guys 5’7-5’10.. this the result your gonna see. Not really sure why this is surprising. It’s probably why most major league teams do not fill their roster that way, yet the Milwaukee brewers actively do.
ruby773.bsky.social
I remember there was an article from someone out there on the brewers beat saying that Oliver Dunn was going to be their most important player this year 😂😂😂😂😂
ruby773.bsky.social
They actively chose this. The brewers actively chose to get a lineup of 5’6 stout players who have zero power. It’s very disturbing and not surprising at all that this is happening.
ruby773.bsky.social
It’s also not great when this happens often.

I, for one, am so shocked that two pitchers who had their roles change a couple hours before the game both have struggled lightly. Genius managing from the manager of the year.
