The endless bullshit heaped on Reece Walsh about eyelashes and nail polish is exactly why #NRL needs a pride round. Too many retrograde idiots who want to soak us all in toxic masculinity, not to mention those who have some really big things to work out about why attractive men upset them so much.

Another way to understand this is - if you think Kevvie can't coach because he lost one single grand final, are you also calling for Bellamy to be sacked? He's lost a lot of grand finals.

So it's not blind loyalty - Walters made some big coaching clangers along the way, and needed a much better/stable assistant roster. But even so he came incredibly close to victory in 2023.

Anyone who thinks there's no element of luck in a premiership is kidding themselves. Panthers got plenty of those "50/50" calls in their run. There were calls and omissions that could have flipped the script for them.

I'm not diminishing the fact Maguire did coach the Broncos to a win, that is obviously true. But he enjoyed some very good luck along the way (ask a Raiders fan if you don't know what I mean).

Walters had a lot of close games go against him, and quite a lot with some real crappy luck.

True. At minimum people should be acknowledging that without Walters, Maguire does not win a premiership at the Broncos. Madge did not rebuild the club, Kevvie did. It's bullshit to write off Walters for a loss to the Panthers at the peak of their run. #nrl

In July I noted the Broncos second halves were ordinary, going 5-11-1 after half time up to Round 19.

They won 7 straight second halves to close the season, with holding both Penrith & Melbourne to 0 points in the second half.

Hope Madge gets the credit he deserves.
