#PokemonLegendsZA
Corbeau from Pokémon Legends ZA looking down on the viewer, slightly angry and posing his hands elegantly but still looking to fight. Arbok curves around him ready to fight an opponent. The image has a yellow green background with semi-harsh lighting.

Arbor having teeth fucks me up so badly.

Lot of talk about orange and teal recently, so here’s my fighting type gym leader Krish! She’s a physical therapist and general fitness trainer for injured Pokémon - a career she chose after recovering from an incident herself.

Nothing wrong with liking little tidbits or fun facts for fandom reasons or indulging in the perspective of the author or liking what the author has to say, but you don’t need their validation. Art means to you what it means to you.

Just because the term “death” sounds negative doesn’t mean it’s like spitting on the author or whatever, or that any singular reader has the ”true” interpretation of the text. It just means their work speaks for itself, and sometimes it speaks in ways that the author might disagree with.

I feel like a lot of people would be happier with the art they consume if they practiced death of the author all the time instead of just when the author’s a bad person.

That said, I have seen it performed live twice, and, in that context, it does bang.

I know people really really like the Main Character, but I just cannot put a sarcastic, kind of cheesy, “been there done that” statement on society over the emotionally gripping, deeply personal, and lyrically vibrant works that this album has to offer in spades.

Just one of those songs where I’ve constantly rotated the lyrics in my head over the years. It’s the second most popular on the album for a good reason, but also it’d be cool and better if it was the most popular.

Have you seen this one? I just feel like it‘s relevant based on the ISAT posting I’ve been seeing.

It does! It was up for consideration but it felt a little too resolute. Granted, Plusle and Minun were certainly oddball picks on my part.

I’ve got no idea if anyone would be interested in a breakdown, but it was a fun thought experiment. Half of these characters get confused for Pokémon OCs anyhow, so why not?
ruthieweber.bsky.social
Procrastination is when you give your OCs Pokémon teams based on aesthetics and whether or not they’d use them on their team. I valued the latter part over symbolism when making decisions. #OCSky

If you ever read through a lot of Pokédex entries, it becomes abundantly clear that SM/USUM have the best ones bar none. Not just in content but in how they’re written. Yeah there’s Legends Arceus, but I’m thinking about the traditional format.

Aw thank you, Coral! They all look so cute!

Like I could easily imagine the boring version of this. Black screen with some lights popping out. A super short clip showing someone walking towards some lights. Some tease where you notice things are upside down. Not nearly as effective.
ruthieweber.bsky.social
The Malamar marketing is so genius dude because it encourages people to make posts like the official ones instead of the usual speculation. The window between teaser and reveal is so short anyways that it makes sense to want something that spreads fast.

The last time I drew Tama fully was back in 2020. Things have changed a lot, haven’t they?

Tama from Gintama!!
Been so long since I’ve drawn fan art for the series. I do still very much love it, and Tama is definitely a favorite. She’s not nearly popular enough.

People have been doing Top 5 Pokémon rankings for each generation, and I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring. I went with only one for any evolution line, and regionals counted for the generation they were introduced in.

Trend on the other app to dress Pokémon OCs in Sygna Suits except it’s called #whatthesigmasuit because joke, so I put Nepeta in a Honchkrow-styled fit.

The way people try to spot generative images by going down a checklist they heard on social media instead of having an understanding of how or why artists make craft is just sort of emblematic of why generative content is an issue in the first place.

finding a good visual differentiator was not in the time budget I gave myself for this, especially since I was really struggling with getting the hair right in the first place.
