Me too. From what I've heard most pharmaceutical companies spend more on advertising than they do on R & D nowadays.

I heard a quote a while back "there's no such thing as side effects; there are effects you want and effects you don't". A chiropractor I saw a while back told me about another patient he had. They were on 15 medications when they started seeing him. After he treated them it was down to four.

My mom has diabetes, at one point her doctor suggested she try Jardiance. It's ridiculously expensive, and since it's relatively new the insurance coverage was uncertain. She stuck with Metformin and is doing fine.

I feel like a lot of ads nowadays are conceptualized and written (and some wholly produced) by AI. It's like the companies fired their ad agency and are using ChatGPT to "save money".

Some commercials don't even tell you what it's for, it's just "ask you doctor if blah blah blah is right for you". WTF am I supposed to ask about if I don't know what it does?

I think it's insane that they're expected to completely demilitarize. They literally have a country right next door that has been intent on their annihilation since that country was dropped onto their land without their consent. They're not allowed to defend themselves?

"Can't even get accepted to medical school"? Not true. I used to see a chiropractor, the training they get is identical to MDs except they focus on nutrition and manipulating the nervous system instead of pharmaceuticals. A DO likely has similar training. Big Pharma should be a last resort.

Someone in another thread (a nurse, I think) commented that she saw a device under his jacket in photographs after his appointment in April that may have been something to help push blood through his heart. I forget what she called it. Maybe that's why his "annual" appts are every six months now?

Not my cup of tea, personally my only interest in sports is watching John Green play EA FIFA. You guys have fun though! www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfWd...

I'm not into her at all, but from what I've seen of reviews about her new album the whole thing is pretty cringey. She's got a song about Travis' privates, my first thought was "didn't she and Tom Hiddleston break up after she put out an embarrassing song about him?"

They aren't conservatives any more. They gave up conservatism a long time ago in favor of Fascism, just like Evangelical Christians gave up their religious beliefs in favor of their political ideology. It's so disappointing.

I don't remember who it was, someone on one of the podcasts I listen to recently said they think Miller & Co have been showing him footage of the Rodney King riots.

He likes to pretend he's a successful businessman. In reality he's intellectually disabled, daddy "set him up in business" instead of getting him the help he really needed. Fred didn't think about what would happen when the people he chose to manage Donnie were no longer able to do so.

Cognitively speaking he's a four year old and he's clearly got rapidly deteriorating dementia, congestive heart failure and probably kidney failure too. I saw a comment from a doctor, I think it was a couple months ago, saying he's probably got about six months left.

@parkroseperma.bsky.social lives in Portland, she's been talking about how it's going there. Krasnov's "war zone" is literally a few dozen people protesting at the ICE facility, some wearing frog costumes and chicken suits.

His lawyers could have got him out of all those legal troubles by having him declared not fit to stand trial. Unfortunately his malignant narcissism wouldn't have allowed that, it would have been too embarrassing.

Supposedly he had a second-in-the-last-six-months "annual" checkup at Walter Reed today. I wonder if any news came out of it? I saw one mention that he had a Covid vaccine, just wondering if there's been any news about his cognitive deterioration. (Not that there would be, doesn't hurt to ask.)

If you want "old" TV look at Doctor Who. The first episode aired in 1963, it had to be rebroadcast the following week because it was pre-empted by news of JFK's assassination. It aired a three-part 60th Anniversary Special a couple of years ago.

I keep seeing it suggested that Rep-elect Grijalva could be sworn in by a Federal Judge rather than waiting for Johnson to get his head out of Krasnov's behind. I feel like you would know if this is accurate. If so, the Dems need to get that done.

The state could withhold her district's Federal tax remittances until she's sworn in. Individual taxpayers would likely be prosecuted for refusing to pay.
ruthkub.bsky.social
I've seen comments that any Federal Judge can swear her in. If that's true I don't know why it hasn't been done yet, though. She and her constituents could probably file a class action suit.
ruthkub.bsky.social
I keep seeing comments saying any Federal Judge can swear her in. Is this true? If so, why hasn't it been done yet? I'd like to see them gather on the House steps, swear Grijalva in, vote to remove Johnson and elect a new Speaker. A vote to eject the Insurrection Caucus would be good too.

According to right wingers' reasoning for our lax gun laws, sure. In reality, does anyone really think a bunch of guys with AK-47s can beat a fleet of tanks? Our revamped system needs a mechanism for snap elections like the UK has, and full security clearances for candidates for Federal office.

I'd like to see the blue states get together and approach the UN for help. I don't know if that would work though, given that the regime has a veto vote.

If we'd held the Confederates accountable after the Civil War we wouldn't be dealing with this now. Unfortunately Lincoln was assassinated and his successor reversed much of what he got done.
