Valak the demonic nun is one of my fave entities in horror, so naturally I had to play the Conjuring-inspired game where she was creepin' around every corner! 🙏 Highly recommend Blasfemia for anyone who appreciates a solid indie horror game!

I enjoyed The Midnight Walk, which isn't hand-drawn but rather hand-crafted in a stop-motion style with clay—SUPER unique and very creepy-cozy vibes.

Similar vibe-wise is Gloomy Eyes (though I don't think it was hand-drawn), but def falls under indie games!

Last but certainly not least, Alien: Isolation is and will always be a classic! It starts off slow, but be patient—it gets WAY wild, and the xenomorph's AI-driven behavior model keeps you under constant pressure. The devs announced a second game, so it's the perfect time for another playthrough!

I LOVELOVELOVE the entire Fears to Fathom series, you truly can't go wrong with any of these games—but Ironbark Lookout is my fave 👏 Inspired by a true story, you play as someone who accepted a job as a forest lookout, and creepy things start happening pretty quickly. Did I mention I love this game?

MADiSON scared the bejeezus out of me—it's def a jumpscare-oriented game, so be prepared! It features a fun camera mechanic and challenging puzzles (think Visage-level challenging), plus creepy imagery and a good storyline. This is a great one to play in the dark!

If you enjoy strong, narrative-driven games with female leads, Martha is Dead follows a storyline that's layered, disturbing, and stays with you long after the credits roll. The plot is character-driven and the imagery is unsettling. It's similar to psychological games like Mouthwashing.

Still Wakes the Deep checks SO many boxes when it comes to fears: thalassophobia, claustrophobia, megalophobia, acrophobia, body horror—and it's all wrapped up in one beautifully paced and gorgeously presented game. How I wish I could play this again for this first time!
