My name's Sakara, and I primarily write historic- or, well, prehistoric-fiction/fantasy. My work focuses on sweeping you 12,000 years into the past, to follow its forgotten people and their storied lives.

I'm most active over here, on my FA:

That said, definitely don't wear the miner's stuff as well as the experts do.

Recovered some photos from the old, dying laptop. Not sure how to feel about the second photo, given it was taken year after the first. Guess if I actually put a little more care into my shaving, it ends up removing a number of years and an amount of anxiety.

My rent has been bumped up, and it just so happens that I want to do more in this kind of style.

Though, this seems to be another place I've chosen poorly then. Seeing as Sak (and later Kuveli) use woad. Which I'm sure, given where they live, might surprise any researchers. A shame the context of it being from their mother, who fled her place of birth, would be lost.

I recall what was mentioned in the video about using IR lights to find tattoos, yeah. Reminds me of what they mentioned at Creswell, where it's so exposed that any paints have long since faded. Though there is evidence of pigments that requires some more study.

A good can of worms always tends to make for a fun worldbuilding question, I find.

But yeah, decoratively cutting the fur like with camels seems like the best option. Though for my folk I went with dyes for permanent markings. Perhaps instead there could be residue from dye in a container with them

Makes me wonder, as a friend occasionally asks about tattoos on anthros, if it could ever be preserved so well on anthro remains. Might be worth looking into myself, as I might try writing a story about archaeologists finding the remains of one of my own characters.

Milo Rossi posted a video about tattoos on mummies, and he mentioned database of all the examples of tattooed mummies found around the world.

It is based on research by Aaron Deter–Wolf, an expert on the field. It is a very interesting read:

Ah, fair and perhaps another time then. Should you ever wind up in this part of the world though, there's always some good rough ciders that comes out of Devon and Cornwall.

Oh, looks like you got actual scrumpy too. A fine choice. Calls for appropriate music to drink to.

Taking a moment to enjoy some peace, and ask for favour on their hunting trip. It's always best to leave an offering too, and Sakara seems to think it's worth leaving his rather precious necklace. I'm sure his arrows will be blessed for it.

~Yes, good, another convert~

Gotta delve into the ancestors of some of your characters, see what they're up to out in the forests.

It's no worries, I'm quite familiar with that awkwardness too. It can be a pain. I'm fine with DMs either on here, or over on Telegram.

It might have to be around you more constantly for it to wear off. Or, in the case of the candle I never used, it does fade on its own over time. But that's just a case of renewing it.

Drawtober 12-Infection

These two doctors seem to have quite a different approach to healing this patient, who do you think has the better idea? :P

Non-humans are immune to human diseases, so Cat Medic needs no protection. The disease in question wiped out 50% of the human population in some areas.

I recall once in school we went to an old Victorian schoolhouse, and they had us spend the day as students in that era. One of the things we did was make beeswax candles, and they did smell wonderful. I never used mine, just kept it on my desk because it smelled nice.

Ah, fuck it. Payday's just gone, work was a drag, and people are going out tonight. Remind me to confiscate my phone this time, before I get too rat-arsed.

A very healthy way to look at it, certainly. As such, don’t be surprised if a prehistoric fox shows up some time, a bit unwashed after a long journey.

Some close-ups! The genet looks positively overjoyed. Is that because of the speed? Or from holding a handsome cave fox tight? Likely it's both!

Art by @rimou.bsky.social. Sakara and Kuveli are @sakarafox.bsky.social's OCs. Lani and Taray are mine!

Time for @sakarafox.bsky.social's cave foxes to be the Wantaelians' guests!
Kuveli loves riding Sakara's mare Pekka, so when Lani mentioned his motorbike and explained what it was, the kid asked for a race on a local country road! Plenty of fun—at 60 kph!

Art by the great @rimou.bsky.social!
An improvised race on a small brick road on Wantael Island in late Spring. Green fields and pastures, reminiscent of Ireland, Cornwall or Brittany. Blooming brooms and elderberries.

In a background: the ocean coast, an optical telegraph tower and a village with isolated houses. Sheep grazing here and there.

On the left, my fursona Lani, riding his orange motorcycle, with Kuveli, a young cave fox, as a passenger, euphoric with the speed. On the right, Sakara, a prehistoric fox, riding his grey mare Pekka, with my genet OC Taray as a passenger. Both have blue body paint on them. The viverrid looks overjoyed, likely from holding the fox tight.

Yeah, I agree with what a friend said once: Having a gallery is preferred, and this style of platform is terrible as a gallery.

Loads of stuff I still need to put on FA, but that necessitates me finishing the stories for them.

Considering the possibility of getting art, in which Atatu is somewhat unimpressed with Kuveli’s recent obsession: Piercings. Lots of them, in many places.
