Turns out karma’s a comedian. I spent forty years chewing people out online, and now I spend my afterlife chewing anything that moves.

No tunnel of light, no booming voice, just a splash and a sudden hunger. I came to in a tank, surrounded by teeth that looked a lot like mine. A sign above the glass said South American Freshwater Exhibit. The irony nearly killed me again.

The others don’t talk, which is fine. I never cared much for conversation. They just glide, bump, and snap. I do the same. Old habits, new medium.

Visitors come by and tap on the glass. I used to think notifications were annoying, turns out it’s worse when you can see the finger. Kids laugh when we swarm at feeding time. Adults film it for the likes.

At night, when the lights go dim, I drift near the filter and imagine the comments section still running somewhere without me, a million voices gnawing at each other for sport.
