Yes, this includes the Souls-like games, too. I enjoy their difficulty, but not everyone will; allowing people a mode to enjoy the games story and world without needing to slam their heads against bosses over and over should be an option.

A games difficulty often has no baring on its enjoyment. I, personally, enjoy a challenge from games, but on my terms. An optional superboss, for example. I believe a games primary story should be accessible, and there should be a 'story mode' for most games, to allow more people to play and enjoy.

The most recent example I can think of is Kidan, whom carries my hatred, anger and feelings of hopelessness and powerlessness in the face of a controlling 'system'. Do I think of him as myself? Absolutely not. But I acknowledge that my feelings shaped his design and personality.

Some of my characters initial concept was very much a "I want to further explore this feeling or aspect of something from my life", though that's treated more as a bullet point in their initial design, rather than the only goal, most characters take on their own life as they interact with others.

I'm of a mind that every character we write carries a trace of us, whether intentional or not, consciously or not. I very much push for a line to be drawn between IC and OOC, but I'm not arrogant nor objective enough to think that no part of me influences all my characters characterisation.

I'm pretty lore flexible personally. I believe canon lays the foundation and, as long as things don't directly contradict that foundation, we can write as we wish. That said, for rpers, discussing comfort with your partners regarding bending canon is important, don't just do it without permission.

Qahs'ra is mildly experienced, though he's so open to new things and enthusiastic to make sure his partner enjoys themselves that he's always figuring things out. His favourite position is anything that lets him look at his partners face, I would say; he wants to watch them enjoy themselves. ♥
