When Ghoulie and I first made this challenge for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet we were blown away by how much everyone loved it. The kind words from the Pokemon community really were the best parts of our own Vtuberlockes!

And that's the kind of positive energy we're bringing to this latest game!

This is meant to be a more fun and interesting kind of challenge. There's no permadeath like a Nuzlocke, and you can add your own rules to customize your experience!

For example, you can use the Duplicates Rule to avoid having multiples of the same Pokemon, or even add the Permadeath Rule back in!

And its videos on horror are SO GOOD! The Duskmourne video is incredible, and "Madness, Memory, Mill & Discard" is a great exploration of design philosophy uniting mechanics through artistic themes. Check them out!

Spice (it/them) is one of the rare MTG creators whose work I believe to be genuinely important. Its video on anarchism and police abolition masterfully uses MTG as a medium to explore a topic most people get wrong, and that only gets more relevant as time goes on.

I may do this for another game and maybe not necessarily a nuzlocke but the types would probably be:

Dark (demon)
Grass (earth and flowers)
Dragon (dragon)

I debated ground and grass but I think the love of flowers make me think I have to go with grass over ground.

Choose three Pokemon Types that represent your Vtuber lore, and try to beat the game with only those Types! For me it'd be Dark, Ghost, and Fire~

I'm doing this with Ghoulie and we challenge all Vtubers to try it too!

1. Choose THREE Pokémon Types that represent your Vtuber lore. You can only catch Pokémon of those Types!

2. The Types of future evolutions count (you can catch Caterpie for Butterfree's Flying-Type).

3. If the starters don't have any of your chosen Types, you can take them until you find a Pokémon that does. Once you do, put your starter in the PC!

4. You can only catch ONE Pokémon per area, the FIRST Pokémon that appears of your chosen Types.

5. Mega Evolutions count! You can have ONE Pokémon whose Type doesn't match but whose Mega Evolution Type does (you can have a Charizard for Mega Charizard X's Dragon-Type).

I'm thinking Grass, Water, Ground! My lore is that I'm a farmer from a farming simulator, essentially -- so it seems right to keep it earth-y.

Great Types! Normal can be pretty goated, too, imo

We first made this challenge for Scarlet/Violet and modified it for Z-A, but we think it works for any gen! I like to use it for fangames and the like.

Whatever game you use it for, I hope you have fun with this!

The third is a *tough* call, I almost want to say Normal for what her lore actually is lol, but I could be convinced on other types

Ice (uh, duh)
Dragon (uh, duh)
Psychic (...don't worry about it, it actually isn't what you think)

Also these three types are HORRIBLE for anything earlygame LOL

Even with the rough early game, those are some great Types!

And yeah, we first conceived this idea for Scarlet and Violet, and we think it works for any other gen! I like to use it for fangames especially, just ignoring the 5th rule as-needed.
