Though, my opinions may be colored by a lack of nostalgia (‘06 and ‘07 were gap years for my Bionicle set purchasing) and by hindsight - it’s pretty clear that the ‘06 sets were testing the waters for the “Inika build” because starting from ‘07 both heroes and villains got much more unique

Jokes aside and in fairness, I do see your point to an extent. IMO the worst offenders are actually the heroes from 2006, which had basically the exact same build and all feel samey as a result (the villains did this too but the different face/spines were more prominent to mitigate it for them)
