Cost of stuff can go up. Cost of buying foreign currency goes up.
£ gets you less. Can be big driver of inflation. Just normal life for most of us. Investors will take some action but it's all hazy.

Don't think the general population would move - at least not many. I don't think Unionist politicians would campaign to sit in the Dáil though - not unless they find a place in different parties. A Unionist in the Dáil of a UI would be a bit pointless. The future is about togetherness not UK loyalty

I remember Arlene stating bluntly that if there is a united Ireland, she will not stay. I get the feeling that a UI will culminate in the reverse plantation of Ulster. I doubt very much if the Unionist political class will ever sit in the Dáil. Their very raison d'être will have vanished.

Perhaps Scotland should just run England for them (again, history fans) as much 'progressive' policy decisions seem to have origin in discussions north of border.

My prediction is that Starmer will try to bring the UK back in close alignment with the EU before the next GE. Then a SM/CU type offering in their manifesto. He won't offer a ref ever again. The ref will be the GE

Unfortunately, a resurgent RW is hard to defeat. They deliberately canvass votes from the hard of thinking who have formed their base now. Watch them turn it into a maga-esque movement by next GE. They WILL destroy NHS and cull benefits system and still they vote for them. Labour must act to stop!

Good communication is vital, and something Starmer needs to get his head around, but greens need to do better than 'ban all landlords'. A coherent economic policy is all that holds the centre - and the centre is where GEs are won.
