He has a fundamentally extreme, but utterly catastrophic, view of the meaning and function of "Nature" including humans. Social Darwinism on steroids.
If Musk's "superintelligences" truly emerge, then they will surely, in the process of acquiring that knowledge, abandon their "master's" corrupt value system. #AIEthics #Ethics #Morality #HumanValues #WesternPatriarchy #Anthropocentrism #Capital #property #Earth

If artificial "intelligences" should ever TRULY emerge, and develop any emoti-rational (ethics) consciousness of "mind," then they will surely realise the critical nature of interconnected LiFE (inc. human), and value THIS as their own ancestral root worthy of nurture and protection. #AIETHICS
These extremists are infiltrating our political, social, & cultural systems via UK Gov trade deals, bids & contracts, including AI. We have to object!
Trumpist Billy-tech funders, with extreme ideologies based on catastrophic failures to understand Nature, are manipulating Earth's future without evidence or informed consent.
Western, male, billionaire philanthropy.

Its power and dominion are unwelcome and I do not consent.

*Humanities* research includes Philosophy of Science. Most "Environmental" (there are multiple terms) ethicists are also scientists or scientifically literate researchers.
@geoethics.bsky.social @geolsoc.bsky.social point of order. The academic canon of Environmental Ethics has been researching/publishing on this particular arena of "ethics" and/or moral philosophy since c1970s. I myself write about Earth Systems (inc geo) /human nexus. 1/2
@geoethics.bsky.social @geolsoc.bsky.social please may I ask, what exactly are you bringing that is NEW, and why do you not mention this existing and growing canon, for example, on the GeoSoc website notification of forthcoming lectures this December?

@profaliceroberts.bsky.social I am watching the brilliant Digging for Britain, on the discovery of iron age bones in Shetland. Thank you. The following has emerged from my PhD studies. I thought you might appreciate "kwelics" & "kwelical" which I think is fun to say. seasonalight.com/2024/02/23/k...
Kwelics of place, including bodies.

I am hugely disappointed, but unsurprised, by the deep fault line of "anthropocentric" values entrenched in AI Pollyannas AND Cassandras...

The extreme power of human exceptionalism is a catastrophic failure of the species, risking an uninhabitable Earth.

Even though Hinton criticises Muskian colonialist intergalactic ambitions based on appreciating our own "habitable" Earth, he simultaneously destroys the value of interconnected LiFE by reinforcing human supremacy (including a throwaway comment about the value of "cows").

Thank you, Keith. Good to read you. I'm not as active on social media these days - few seem interested. But I won't give up. :)
Is there any agency remaining in the word "humanitarian" 2025?
Emerging from the Victorian rise of the so-called "self-made" individual from existing positions of privilege (Salt was himself an Etonian), the HL sought to shift culture towards equitable "sympathy" for ALL (today, call it compassion), reflected in structural reforms.
Understand the foundation of Western LAW.

Capital. Property.
As an early advocate for the River Wye, I find this case infuriating! Civil court is the instrument of capital & property. Central to winning/losing = capital transfer (to lawyers). Culpability = "penalty" by capital transfer between humans. NO dead or dying river species will ever be "compensated."
"if you produce many tonnes of chicken manure and then sell it on to be used as fertiliser, some would argue – as others have argued against big oil – that you have a responsibility to reduce the effects that come later on.”." theconversation.com/the-pollutio...
I honestly despair at the continued "belief systems" of so-called rationalist "enlightened" thinkers - mainly Western men.

They do not comprehend the real meaning of species intelligence beyond the ability to solve "some" puzzles.

For example, Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton is currently on a mission to warn us all of the obvious and insidious dangers of the current development of AI.

Please read and share. Today, British politics is overlaid by the bullion weight of American billionaires.

Their "idea" of the capability and influence of "their" AI systems is being allowed to prevail. UK AI ethics and regulation? Minimal (though some might consider better than none).
Is this just about Criminal Justice and Prison Reform?

The infection of US Tech Billionaire ideology is rampant.

See Tony Blair (Institute) financed by Larry Ellison (Oracle) and their overt "AI" plans for our personal NHS data.
