Arguing for a justice first approach to climate action, Baker reasons that those most marginalized by the current extractive fossil-fuel energy system must be at the forefront in designing how we restructure how energy is generated, accessed, and distributed in the transition towards clean energy.

Shalanda Baker is a lawyer and law professor with deep expertise in equity-centered energy law. Formerly serving in Energy Justice and Equity leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Baker is currently a vice provost at the University of Michigan.

I should totally write a memoir--because being a long-term resident foreigner slowly but totally changes everything about one's perspective and sense of self, & since I keep diaries, I have the raw data from which I could narrate this (if I had available work hours.)

I no longer have an Amazon account. Everything I need can be (a) bought from its manufacturer, (b) swapped for a similar product that does not use Amazon as a distributor, or (c) left behind in my past as an unnecessary form of consumption ✨️🌟✨️🌟 #klima

I am grateful I inherited Gillian's family's talent for languages, helping my #EU #integration.

Gillian's mother was Nancy Naylor Mallory Willett, who taught French and Spanish after a brief career in military intelligence and passed away in 2006. Nancy never learned to drive.

I have to admit that's not really going so well....Yet, ideals and narratives about the inclusive society somehow outlast their own nondelivery in practice.

30 years of educational self-distinction have left me exhausted at the starting line of the yet-further rounds of obligatory competition. 😞⚔️

My mother, Gillian Mallory Bruce (1954-2010): Valued education, was very ambitious for me 😭

Gillian wanted me to be able to transcend my working-class origins through education.
