Have you witnessed an Illinois-registered vehicle with swapped out or altered license plates? To keep our communities safe, the Illinois Secretary of State's office has launched a Plate Watch Hotline to report this illegal activity. Call (312) 814-1730 or email [email protected]
Special shout out to Alderwoman Ruth Cruz for putting together the Pumpkin Fest this Friday, and for Bateman Elementary to make this fun Boooooster Fest 2025 possible for their students!
🎃I had a great weekend celebrating the Halloween spirit in the district! From trunk or treats to pumpkin paintings, it was fun to see so many folks happy and in the festive spirit!
Thanks to all who came out to show our small businesses some much-needed love!
With the increased ICE activity in our community, our small businesses have sadly been impacted by the widespread fear and chaos in our neighborhoods. We stopped by to encourage folks to shop locally if possible, & to distribute information on your rights as immigrants should you encounter ICE.
I joined Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, Alderwoman Rossana Rodriguez, and local advocates for a Know Your Rights business crawl in Albany Park last week!
As your senator, I am committed to use my office to demand these answers and keep fighting for my district.
Now more than ever, we need to stay true to our morals as a sanctuary state, and speak out when we see state troopers, Chicago police, or other law enforcement officials cooperating with ICE and co-signing the violence they have inflicted upon hardworking families.
Additionally, I highlighted the lack of communication ISP has had with legislators, including our oversight capacity.
In solidarity with protesters, I have joined colleagues in demanding answers as to why the Illinois State Police have been on site at the Broadview Detention facility and aided in violating the right to free speech among advocates.
Although they have been mobilized with the intention of ensuring the safety of protesters, their presence has caused more confusion, fear, and at times, violence. I am disappointed to hear about these instances, and echo these demands my community has made for transparency and accountability.
While in the capital, I have continued to have important conversations with other public officials and advocates about my concerns regarding the ongoing presence of Illinois State Police at the Broadview ICE facility.
However, I believe it is necessary for me to be in the people’s house during our fall session and use the power you, my community, have granted me to champion stronger protections for immigrants here in Illinois and ensure our transit system is fully funded.
Dear District 20 family,

I have spent this week in Springfield with a heavy heart, knowing that while I am going to sleep to the quiet streets of the capital, my community members are still on high alert, being pulled out of their cars and targeted during their everyday routines by ICE.
Her giving heart will forever be remembered by those she touched. Please join us on this special day of celebrating her life and enjoying taffy apples, chilli, pumpkins and more.
In honor of Alexandria Imani Burgos, and unfortunately all victims whose lives were cut short due to gun violence, my team and I are co-sponsoring Alexandria Imani Harvest Fest to celebrate her life. Alexandria loved autumn, dressing up, engaging with children, and helping families.
I am proud to be a Latina legislator fighting every day, both in the streets and in the people’s house, for my community. It is an honor to observe this month with my neighbors in our work to keep each other safe. Watch here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVb-...

Hispanic Heritage Month looked a lot different this year. Instead of taking time to celebrate our traditions, we showed up for our community and culture in a different way—fighting for our rights and our family members against discrimination, kidnapping, and torture from the federal administration.
