yay!! I think either order works as long as your expectations are sufficiently set (people on tumblr going from movie => book have been very shocked because they were expecting the tone to be much more similar) so definitely just go with whatever you feel like. have fun whenever you do! 🫡

the movie has them being much sweeter nicer people (which inevitably loses a lot of the bite) but also they gaze very tenderly at each other a lot and I am not immune. basically book if you're in the mood for frenetic unpleasant horniness and movie if you're in the mood for more Romance

the thing is that TLW movie is about the beauty of how gay romance can bloom even under horrific circumstances, but TLW book is about being so deeply closeted and self-loathing you subconsciously register for a suicide march to end it all, and finding love on the suicide march only makes it worse
