I think I overplan things and then when it comes to actually making/finishing it, I get scared of messing up... Especially if it's a traditional piece. But I want to get over that anxiety and do more art on paper...

Something I've noticed recently is that I always like my more spontaneously done art more than the ones where I plan things out with thumbnails... I've been starting everything with thumbnails first for years but maybe I just need to not think and just draw.

...I quietly return to rpg maker because after spending hours looking into how to organize and manage scenes and locations in godot, I realized I don't know what I'm doing... Truly a humbling experience. My apologies rpg maker i'll never leave you again

There's gotta be a more efficient way to do this so it's not a complete mess like it is right now... I haven't even added any sort of text system/interactable type thing yet, and I can't imagine the nightmare organizing that would become. I wonder if treating interactables as npcs would be good...

I did manage to figure out a way to cut apart my test image so that things go over the player when they walk behind it! The downside is that things got hella confusing to look at it in the file manager (I had 6 different collision nodes plus the overlay image plus the background image...)

So I had to figure out ways to reword stuff and I did find some people asking about using images as the background and having collisions and yes, you can do it, but the answers these people got are always like "yes you can but why do that when you can use tilemapssss"

Sometimes I like to play around in Godot and pretend I'm going to make something in there. And I hate (HATE) using tilemap/sets in Godot so I was like, there's gotta be a way to do the equivalent of RPG Maker's "parallax mapping" right? But searching that wasn't bringing up much...

please please be more passionate about what you like and create. i cannot count how many times i have seen people reflect on old art they made or interests they had and call it "cringe" so they can make fun of themselves and hope that instead of being laughed at, they can laugh with everyone.
