If you’ve left Twitter to come here, I guarantee you’ll be fascinated (and perhaps a bit frightened) by this podcast from @tortoisemedia.bsky.social

It looks at how the rich and powerful pay huge sums to have employees, lovers, even those who criticise them on the internet, surveilled and smeared.
Here’s a clip from an interview this morning, as temperatures are set to reach dangerous highs of 34°C

The government promised us action on working temperatures. Now’s the time!

#WeRemember Derek T Potts who lost his life in the line of duty on the 26th June 1983.

Derek ‘Ginger’ Potts was 37 years old when he collapsed and died of a heart attack while fighting a blaze at 44 Compton Road, Islington.
Are you a trade union rep concerned about the temperature in your workplace?

Want to get your hands on one of our @tuc.org.uk thermometers?
People will be like “Britain is broken” and post a photo of some graffiti on the tube

Meanwhile our government is cutting disabled people’s incomes in half, giving medical professionals the right to kill the terminally ill, not to mention arming a genocidal state
The majority of people who do not believe Britain should be supporting the bombing of Iran must raise their voices

Not just for the people of Iran or even Palestine, but for yourself: we all become less safe the moment our state steps in to justify bloodshed abroad

I don’t know how many Americans have noticed or understood the significance of Mµsk’s recent interest in British politics, but if you know about his defence of T*mmy Robinson, then there is no question over what that gesture was on Monday. He knew what he was doing.

We are calling on First Group's Hull Trains to explain why they've failed in their duty to operate safely - a driver, who suffers from PTSD after experiencing several suicides during their shifts, was dismissed when they raised safety concerns:
Hero from Hull: Train driver who suffers from PTSD after 7/7 fired for raising safety concerns
ASLEF, the train drivers’ union, is calling for a driver – fired by First Group’s Hull Trains after raising a safety concern – to be reinstated.

We @the-tuc.bsky.social are calling for a ban on the use of high-silica stone as young men working with it continue to die.
They are all around my age (average age 34). Preventable deaths.

Front page news. As it should be.
Older, nerdier, frumpier, yes.. but the sparkly thing attached to my hand now is so much better than a pompom 🥰
The end of 2019 vs the end of 2024 😫 #5yearslater
Jorge should have been preparing for a retirement spent with his wife, kids and grandchildren. He gave 24 years of his working life to the railways, but he was killed on Friday night while doing his job.

Please share to help the family with funeral costs:

I’m shocked that the vote on assisted dying went the way it did. The message from disabled people’s groups seems near unanimous in opposition. At least it was close, and there is still time for minds to be changed… but those disabled people’s voices need amplifying by all of us.
What’s going on with that knife crime charity with the amateur looking logo that has LOADS of young ppl outside tube stations?

And they don’t follow the same unwritten rules of most charity fundraisers (eg 3 step limit), they will CHASE you down the street

Is the charity legit?
She needs to win! #DragRaceUk

Obviously we need more health and safety strikes to prevent more sick days 👍
An interesting comparison: the number of days workers take off sick costs the economy far more than the number of days workers are on strike
