Yup, you read that right! In the final months of 3DS online, I managed to successfully get enough friends to access all 191 Pokemon in the XY Friend Safari, and I plan on shiny hunting all of them!

Blanche from Pokemon Go officially uses they/them, although that was likely a Niantic decision rather than Game Freak/TPC.

The only reason I can see for keeping it is for compatibility reasons with older gens since Pokemon data does store the OT's gender, but that information hasn't even been viewable since gen 5. So what would be the harm in say, internally assigning every OT as male if the OT *needs* to have a gender?

"The OT will be highlighted as blue if it is a male Trainer or red if it is a female Trainer in Generations III (except in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen), IV, and V. In Korean games, female OTs are highlighted in pink instead of red. This information is still stored in later games, but is no longer visible in-game."

Animal Crossing already got it right 5 years ago with having no concept of gender for your character whatsoever, with every character simply referring to you with they/them pronouns. I don't know why Pokemon is doing this half-hearted "acting like we're eliminating gender but not really" thing.

It's so weird that even though Pokemon has eliminated outright asking "Are you a boy or a girl?", it still... basically has that? If you pick the more masculine looking trainer, characters will refer to you with he/him pronouns, and the feminine trainer gets she/her.

I feel like it has to expand, because I don't see how they could just pack the rest of the Pokedex into the Lumiose streets? But idk. Again, don't confirm anything, I want to see for myself.

So in a way, it's a Pokemon game I have wanted for quite some time. Man though - don't confirm anything - but I really hope there's some kind of expansion to the wild zones at some point. Only currently having 6 small-ish areas with like 5 Pokemon each is majorly disappointing.

First impressions of Z-A: I'm kinda surprised by just how different it feels compared to PLA. I honestly don't know if it'll dethrone PLA as my favorite Switch Pokemon game, but I'm still obviously enjoying my time with it. I've dreamed of a real-time combat Pokemon game since I was a kid...

I was kinda hoping to get Tepig myself since he was my goat in BW and BW2, but I'm still happy with Totodile. I can't remember if I've ever actually used him in a game - I definitely have used the other two Johto starters.

I literally do not know how I'm gonna get that high. All my planning was done with the endgame of hitting 35. I don't know how I'm gonna squeeze out an additional 15 when some take literal years or are straight up impossible right now (Ultra Hero, dex completions for Sinnoh, Alola, Galar, Paldea)

As soon as I got to level 40 in Pokemon Go, I started prepping for the grind of needing 35 platinum medals to get to max level. I got to 30 before the new level scaling update. And now you need FIFTY of them???
