Ahahahha amazing!

Sad, but true also.

Taking over those industries would lead to big shortterm financial hits to Labour AND bills increasing which would be yet more political hits that’d undermine Labour & allow Nige to make more magic-moneytree fake promises the gullible WOULD fall for.

Doesn’t mean Lab shouldn’t but I doubt they can.
shytiger.bsky.social
I don’t disagree on the re-nationalising of those critical monopolies being important, but again, neither would likely reduce the costs overnight given how badly both industries have been bled dry by shareholder driven extraction of excessive profits rather than investment in infrastructure.

So increased Public housing IS possible, however funding it is the biggest issue as well as recently historic reliance on Private-run/blended housing builders/provisions.

TLDR UK doesn’t currently have the system to build publicly that used to exist.

However, with political will, it CAN be done.
shytiger.bsky.social
House building rates declined since the 1960s (post war) peak building numbers, dramatically dropping & cont. to decline ever since the 80’s.

The massive increase in profit-driven private building (rather than public, which was the main driver until 1970’s) also massively increased cost to buyers.

Now, I know that those homes wouldn’t likely be available to those in temporary accommodation, but it shows the vast number of properties sitting in England & Wales currently unused. Rule changes to limit Land Barons sitting on vacant properties for profit could definitely reduce housing pressure.
shytiger.bsky.social
FYI: The 2021 Census shows ~1.5 Million UNOCCUPIED homes in England & 120,450 in Wales.

ONS in 2022 suggested ~1.3 Million unoccupied homes.

NOW ~130,000 families are in temporary accommodation (2025).

If legislation freed up just 10% of unoccupied homes, that’s 130,000+ newly available homes.
shytiger.bsky.social
Entirely false.

Large increases in the number of affordable houses added to the market will always impact supply & demand & help influence/reduce unaffordable costs.

Young families trapped renting or on waiting lists & in temporary accommodation are there due to lack of availability & options.

Sorry Phil, or is it Joseph? I don’t know what you are referring to?

Weird use of multiple names though. Seems normal.

ANDREA IS RIGHT! SHE WENT TO BOSTON 10 YEARS AGO & …DIDN’T SEE SOME DUCKS
…ERGO: Eaten by illegal foreigners!

Proof of the pudding (isn’t) in the river! (At least not the bit she looked at, at that exact moment!)

Famously the Boston ducks are flightless & legless & can’t move from where they are.
shytiger.bsky.social
Yeah, he was mates with them, that WAS the issue. Rather than clamping down on their use of biased & inaccurate reporting he coddled up to & used them to help his own campaign. His actions for his own personal gain added to the problem we have now.

He also took the country into an illegitimate war.

“Rumour”

I wonder if the Right wing press ever start or use any of these… no they wouldn’t, would they?

Maybe don’t spread salacious disinformation that plays directly into the hands of/seems to legitimise racists like Farage.
shytiger.bsky.social
You clearly don’t, as you responded to MY REPLY, Not Fernando.

That’s why ‘I‘ was notified.

If YOU have made an Error and replied to the wrong person, then fine. I suggest that you delete YOUR MISTAKE and reply to the person that you MEANT to address.

Clowned yourself bud.

It’s absolutely a dictatorship of information controlled by minimal often privately owned ULTRA-wealthy INDVIDUALS. Each with personal agendas and personal ambitions.

The amount of free or independent press has dramatically decreased as magnates have bought up independents and consolidated control.
shytiger.bsky.social
I’m a clown? lol

Explain the systematic consolidation of Press by a small number of media groups/platforms mostly owned by a handful of Right-wing Billionaires.

Then shove your pseudo-intellectual ‘argument‘ where the sun don’t shine.

&What do ‘research education cuts’ have to do with anything?
shytiger.bsky.social
Labour need to simultaneously fix housing issue & cost of living crisis, neither are overnight fixes.

Should Labour pander to racists? No. Should they address small boats thats become a press-manufactured ’major National crisis’, Yes.

Labour were quick with China/Steel mill issue.

They need time.
shytiger.bsky.social
Labour needs to address/stop the racist talking point of small boats asap-caused by Asylum underfunding/privatisation & (mostly) Brexit.

Working class are being manipulated hard towards racism & anti-asylum by Reform & other dark forces.

Constant Reform programming doesn’t help, nor Murdochs
media
shytiger.bsky.social
You got to accept you won’t get a Corbyn (not that he was actually any good tbh- His overly cautious fencesitting on many policy areas was his actual death knell- but the press would never allow him either).

Racism is working, small boats is a wedge issue not going away, & it eats Labours vote.
shytiger.bsky.social
Time and good policy will resolve many issues, screaming about how shit he and Labour are, will only reinforce the fickle and ill-informed public to risk a Reform vote. …And then you’ll be begging for someone like Starmer.

Give him time. A new leader and disarray will do nothing useful
shytiger.bsky.social
Not if Starmer manages to slowly fix the massive problems the country has been facing, with a slow, measured carefully calculated approach.

A band-aid on a broken arm will do nothing, big problems take time to heal.

Just because the very right wing press has turned on him doesn’t mean he’s failed
shytiger.bsky.social
The former Downing Street director of communications Robbie Bibb?

…Who worked directly for Theresa May?

…The same guy that had 400+ industry senior figures (Inc. Miriam Margoyles) calling for him to step down over his blatant Pro-Israeli Government media bias, & links to the Jewish Chronicle?

Hmm
shytiger.bsky.social
Brexit lies on the shoulders of billionaires magnates with too much power & weak politicians that allowed them that power
(in part to be able to try & co-opt it (think Farage, Cameron, Boris, Blair & the Murdochs etc.)).

Press rule reforms (& funding/ lobbying clarity/restrictions) would all help.
shytiger.bsky.social
I don’t blame people for listening to Elected officials that are in a system that had a priority to be honourable & mostly truthful. Same goes for press.

Historically- being caught in any serious mistruths always led to resignation or dismissal.

Now it’s just repeat the lies & lie about the lies.
