I don't know if there is a path towards what I want to do, but I live in hope that one day I'll find one. surely all this art and writing that flows out of me must be worth something to the world. surely I have something that can't be replaced by machine learning software.

so if I can't do what I want, can't do what I love, and can't do what I'm provably good at, what is there? I'm genuinely out of ideas, and every minute spent at my current job has made me feel so hopelessly unhappy. I have to leave, but I can't afford to. I'm trapped.

if you teach me how to do something, I will fly. I taught myself Photoshop when I was 11. I built environments and NPCs and wrote dialogue trees and quests with the Neverwinter Nights toolset. but I can't make that valuable to anyone. besides, I write with despair, there's AI now. can't forget that.

everyone I know wants me to work on games. I've been wanting to work on games for so long. but it's impossible for the people who have 3-15 yrs experience in the industry keep a job in games rn, and no one's considering newcomers. and indie work may exist, but I can't pay rent on rev share promises.

the thing is, I can do anything. which isn't to speak egotistically--I love to learn how to do something and then do it like that. I love to employ my creative talents. I can write emails. I can be precise in hands on work. I have high standards and I hold myself to them.

customer service. production. shift lead. anything I can find that doesn't require standing, for ~24hrs/week and at least as much as I make now. I can't afford any less, but can't labor any more.

I do 2D illustration, which every job board thinks is the same as 3D animation and coding websites. and I am a creative writer. as you can imagine, with the AI push rn, I have exactly zero job prospects. so I push my dreams aside once more to apply to things I don't love but do very well.

after five incredible interviews, two different jobs rejected me today, meaning I have to continue working at my current job, which was work I loved, for people who do not love me back. I just want to work with a team that respects me and the work I do. I want to learn, and in turn teach others.

I think yesterday was the 13th anniversary of #Dishonored being launched. It snuck up on me.
This is from Dishonored 2, but I am forever thankful for getting to visit 3 cities in the Czech Republic as we shot this live action commercial.
