Got new followers so here's my main project:
Dreams of WANDER is a weird/pulp fiction inspired setting that takes place in an AU 1930's with retro-futuristic technology and pulp settings like the Atmospheric Jungle, Hollow Earth and others are located in the dark corners of the Earth!

Everything I've seen from makes me think a a positive review from him is more of an indictment IMO.

Thats just it. Good scenes, ideas, or set peices that otherwise weren't supported well by the rest of the film. Good ingredients, poor cooking.

I generally try not to be negative on movies. I didn't hate this movie, but there was so many little things that took me out completely. There was some scenes I did GENUINELY like. The Quetz eating scene and the Utahraptor attack after the Deinonychus raid was legit creative and harrowing... but...

The ingredients and set pieces *can* be an amazing dish, Vietnam but with Dinosaurs is an amazing premise, but the result is a mess of a dish that makes you lament what could have been. You had perfectly good kobe beef and you burned most of it, leaving you disappointed to what could have been 10/10

Which honestly just sums up the movie. Sets out to do a lot of ambitious ideas: accurate dinosaurs, vietnam movie pageantry, soldier psychological breaks, action scenes, etc. But it bites off more than it can chew and ultimately ends up an overcooked rubbery steak. 9/10

I honestly couldn't give a damn about Hollywood accuracy, but if your going to champion yourself as an answer to JW, and commit all the same sins as JW movies (the female Rex is fucking kaiju sized in some early shots) then you've failed what you set out to do 8/10

I've heard a lot of mixed things about Primitive War. It champions accurate dinosaurs, while at the same point suicide charging armed entrenchments of soldiers being gunned down by the hundreds. Okay, are they animals or murder monster? I'm not sure the movie knows either 7/10

With some scenes that feel straight up video-game set-piecey with gunning down tons of suicidal dinosaurs charging at people in different set peices. Which honestly? Feels like a Call of Duty game. Cookie cutter action set-pieces with tenuous plot-structure between them. 6/10

At least with a movie as bizarre as Carnosaur or as bad as its sequels, it *knows* what it is. Which I don't get that feeling with Primitive War. Is it a war movie? pulp adventure movie? As it stands, it just feels like knock-off Call of Duty Black Ops w/ Dinosaurs 5/10

... moments that it CLEARLY wanted to have weight. But otherwise just fell flat. Its a flawed mess of a movie that I wouldn't be opposed to seeing again, but I'd probably take any JP/JW movie, Carnosaur, or Stop Motion DInosaur movie over it. 4/10

I know its adapted from a book, but for a film, you could have cut out 40 minutes of the film and lose absolutely nothing of substance. The script needed serious pacing and characterization adjustment to care for the characters, thus giving tension and weight to... 3/10

It had some good moments and scenes but it is lost in the sauce of an otherwise jumbled mess that doesn't know what it wants to be. The "AMV montages" of the Dinosaurs put to the "whose who" of vietnam war protest music is unironically the best parts of the movie 2/10

Watched Primitive War.
God what a MESS of a movie. It had decent moments but good god, its like if all the CinemaSins bad-faith complaints about Kong Skull Island was just channeled into this movie. The characters were bland and the action shots were either hard to see or nauseating. 1/10

I get being socially awkward, on the spectrum myself, but you can type more than just "hi". Its a lot less red-flag inducing when you just cut to the point say "hey I want comm you" or express the intent upfront. If you beat around the bush, your wasting my time & makes me feel your not honest 4/4
sirkofwander.bsky.social
Saying "Hi!" in my DMs isn't how you start a relationship with me. Want to engage with me? Reply to my posts, reblog my character art, ask questions in comments, etc. Give me a feel for you as a follower and not *just* some scammer or bot who just followed me and DM'd me out of the blue 3/4

Expressing interest in my OCs and their stories and said they had ideas for them, but only would do them if I paid them 200$+ dollars for a commission from them. I got plenty of mutual artist friends and peers, if people wanted to do fanart of my OC's they'd just... do it. 2/4
sirkofwander.bsky.social
I get this a lot on dA, Discord and here especially. Especially at it is very often an attempt to either fish for me to buy an expensive commission from them **or** them trying to otherwise scam me. Had a user on Discord try to extort me with the promise of fanart of my OCs that way 1/4

Time Stranger is that crystallization of those years of experimentation. A celebration of the franchise that doesn't talk down its audience. Like the mons you start with, it can be anything you want it to be. Its fluid, ever evolving and devolving, adapting. Which I think, we need more of. 8/8

Digimon has had decades of experimentation and figuring out what it was for, why its early successes happened, and who despite all these years, stuck with it. And in that experimention, it innovated, it made gambles, all while sticking with its core audience... and gradually expanding it 7/8

Digimon had an existentialist crisis for a long time. Unable to figure out itself. Simultaneously pandering to the youngest of kids and making expensive sexy PVC pinups for Otaku alike. It didn't know what it was... but found it in the end. Cherishing its loyal fans and experimenting. 6/8

I like Pokemon. I like Digimon. I always found the childish rivalry between the two moot. But its safe to say Pokemon has grown far too complacent, far too greedy in its monopoly and doesn't innovate. It sits in its ivory tower as Nintendo tries to patent the Mons format wholesale 5/8

Allow it to go places or address topics that Pokemon is far too sanitized too address. It leans hard into the "Japanese Cryptidcore" aesthetic set by Cyber Sleuth, Survive and Ghost Game and is able to tackle much grander themes to boot. 4/8

I don't expect there to be a Time Stranger competitive scene or "meta" in the same way Pokemon games have nurtured, but as a solid standalone game, its easily one of the most compelling mons storylines with a lot of twists and turns and tragic moments that... 3/8
