Nah, it was good actually. When the bandage is on, you don't know what it's like under there. When it comes off and you can see it's healthily normal (if pale!) and the only sign that someone's been in there is the surgical scar, it's reassuring that the healing is going ok :-)

Yep, it'll be good to have a quiet resting weekend instead of having to negotiate the Underground ... Next up is maybe Megacon.

It's an older one now but still checks out. I've never developed what little talent I have but hopefully the daft quick sketches I do get a message across or just give a chuckle.

We're looking at a 3 by 3 grid. In the centre, a crude drawing of a green dwagon with big ears is holding up their paws. They are surrounded by a stick figure in all 8 of the other boxes, looking at the dwagon. The captions for the stick figures combines to read "Stick men today better skills tmorrow maybe? pls?" I nearly drew an Olympic Rings Dwagon a few years ago ... But it didn't happen because I think I heard that they are super protective of their branding. Could have been a fun exercise.

It's why when I sometimes go one and done with an author, I don't shout about it. I'll mention it on the blog as "not for me but still check them out". Cos we're all different with different tastes.

It might not be for me but others will love the book and we need to encourage that diversity.

Yeah, they are fun places to visit, just need to retreat somewhere quiet before you have to :-)

The conventions tend to be awkward. It's good when they have a pocket of open space by the exterior doors to retreat to, have a bit of space, a pause and a sip and just be apart from the People for a moment.

Odyssey 5 had a wonderful setup and premise. It's a shame it didn't get a chance to tell its story.

However it did kind of lose its way fast.

Yeah, a previous manager lost me and the person working for me ... We both independently decided that we couldn't work for him and the project lost what we knew as we jumped over to other things.

The other side of it is when we get managers who decide they need to adjust us to their way of thinking ..

That just doesn't work and we lose access to that strength. Or we decide we can't work for the source of the stigmatising and go elsewhere.

I like to see it as thinking differently gives me a strength that others don't have. I'll make the wrong connections but I'll also make other connections that didn't occur to others. Or I'll see patterns that aren't otherwise there.

I am exceptionally tempted to go back to Norway later in the year to chase the aurora by ship ... This is from a couple of years ago

We're looking across the open upper deck of a ship at a night sky obscured by a couple of clouds. The sky is dominated by a diffuse green glow. There are a few people around in red jackets.

It's night time and dark. We're looking over the rail of a ship at a dark sky, lit by a broad ribbon of green glow with a few pink highlights. We can make out the shapes of three people standing by the rail.

We're looking out over the rail of the ship again. The green glow dominates the night sky. There is a grinning fellow in dark coat, dark jeans, luminous yellow hat.

Looks like you're still visible over on Instagram (I just realised I hadn't been following)

But there is that thing of Insta prioritising recommended posts over those who you actually follow. So we see followed person posts on the home page and then it's just gone in favour of the algorithm.
