Frankie the "Tiny" Rat:
- obtained from shady Ul'Dah merchant (Nicholai knew it was a scam but wanted him anyway)
- canonically lives inside Nicholai's inventory rent-free
- is no longer tiny, became NYC rat-sized after eating the food in there

Squeak the Coyote:

GUARDIAN is something I imagine for his last fight against Zenos in EW.
His DRK soul stone tends to split him up into two; one side being his bitter hatred and grief, the other being his selfish desires and earnest hopes.
It's a 2v1 against the face of everything they despise.

Second Sanctuary is definitely for current Nicholai. This song to me feels like someone who is "persisting through trauma"; they're suffering so much, but they're doing their best to live on in spite of that.

SWORD fits Nicholai the most during ARR/HW; he escaped the empire and became an adventurer, though he finds that not much has changed for him. He is still merely a blade to be directed, especially after joining the scions. The heroic yet melanchonic melody really fits him here.

Additionally, if you uncheck the "Look at target when speaking" box, it stops the camera from doing that sudden turn when you interact with NPCs or objects in the overworld!

Island Sanctuary grinding used to trigger my motion sickness bc the camera would twist for *every* gathering node...

After Nicholai became part sin eater in ShB, he needed ways to supress his newfound aetherial hunger.
His solution was to pop a crystal shard in his mouth and suck on it like hard candy (it works and he now does this regularly!)
He even has 'flavor' preferences based on the crystal's element! 🧵

When he finally wakes up from this state, he has to take the time to fully recover... usually by shutting himself in a room for several weeks to sleep and only leaving to eat a ton of food (he needs a silly little treat)

Because of this, his body channels aether much less efficiently, making him develop an appetite for aether. If he were to use up too much aether at once, he get knocked out cold, and his aether drops down to lethally low levels. The scions have to 'heal' him by giving him their own aether.

It was getting so bad that Ardbert had to rejoin with Nicholai much earlier in the MSQ than when its supposed to happen, and with Ardbert being corrupted, the resulting rejoin had permanently affected Nicholai for the worse. He had effectively become part sin eater.
