I really love how Cole can do this. Never a dull moment in his books. Emotional whiplash is a common occurrence. And my nonexistent attention span keeps in check because if you let your mind wander even for a minute you're missing something and have to rewind. Thrilling from start to finish regardless if it's about the plot or the relationships.

No spice in this episode (for obvious reasons) and I didn't even mind.

OMG I hate you so much right now Cole! What an evil cliffhanger you left!!! Argghh!!

Curt Bonnem's performance was fabulous as always.

Jake's not sure if he should thank or melt the Fae coin into *ahem* something more useful.

NOTES

Story wise I liked the surprising twist at the end. Unfortunately the main characters stayed a bit distant but I'm not sure was it due to the writing or the narration or a combination of both.

World building also felt lacking. There were a lot side characters and a lot of things happening but it was more like a chore list than a story at times. However the ending was rather good.

Narration wasn't all that enjoyable to me. A bit monotone and often difficult to differentiate the characters let alone the mood from one another.

Beacon Hill Sorcerer series
7.5 books (so far) of urban fantasy and paranormal romance. The original main character Angel is just my cup of tea. Sarcastic and grumpy, extremely powerful but has a heart of gold and a strong moral compass without being a prude or a condescending hypocrite. And his familiar, The Wee Beastie Eroch, is absolutely adorable.
Interesting universe, excellent world building and character development. The perfect ratio of backstory / thriller / romance / spice / battle and overall story. Not too much or too little of anything.
Joel Leslie did an amazing job as always bringing the story and characters to life.
After binge listening so many books of same series, I'm suffering from separation anxiety. Luckily not too bad since the last book ended in a cliffhanger and next one will be released on Dec 23rd, so l don't have to say goodbye yet.
