Yes, Democrats swept the off-year elections: a very good result. But remember that there are still prisoners in El Salvador; troops in American cities; ICE violations; exploding Venezuelan boats; tariff induced inflation; and 200 years of East Wing history lying in rubble. Celebrate when he is gone.

BUT only when that peaceful protest occurs as a mass gathering in a capital city or other single significant location. It is not a large number of brief demonstrations that has an effect - it is a single, long standing demonstration that puts pressure directly on the government.

Federal taxes are being collected. US treasury bonds are being sold. Money is coming in. The government is not broke. The offices you see being closed; the services you see being denied - are being chosen specifically because they cause the most pain to the public. This is politics, not economics.

You use your phone at Amazon, now the world's largest retail outlet. Amazon has been so SUCCESSFUL that Walmart, Lowes, and other major retailers have to offer their goods online. (Using the Walmart app, you can order groceries at the nearest Walmart and they will deliver to your home.)

My brother was riding his bicycle on a dirt road in the backcountry when he fell off and broke his leg. He pulled out his phone and called 911; then his wife; then me. We met the ambulance at the hospital. I'm not saying new tech is bad, just that there's a lot of it; coming very fast.
