I remember a male who I helped treat in the er. From behind he had a deep laceration from his knees to his lower back. All from a wild pig who attacked him. It was so gnarly. I don't think people know how damaging they can be either. He went to surgery asap.

I remember him, I believed those who thought highly of him with respect and admiration and ignored the critics.

Signs of the times in Chicago today: My daughter's school went on soft lockdown because of reports of ICE. Volunteers showed up at the nearby H.S. to escort people who didn't feel safe. Walking around, I saw lots of orange whistles around people's necks.

Judge Perry says she will issue an oral ruling now and a formal ruling tomorrow.

Perry says the state's temporary restraining order against national guard deployment will be granted, "in part," with a fuller ruling to follow tomorrow.

Are you in the mood for a happy story? I miss the days when the WaPo had a "Style" section entirely devoted to features like this one. But at least we get to learn the saga of a little calico named Francine.

A woman on a podcast reported that her mother was cold and distant, as described in the article. But at the end of the war she was taken back when her mother spoke to her gently, touched her lovingly. The mother knew Americans loved their children and hoped she could be sent to the states.

I finally caught the nice Gustave Caillebotte exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago. It closes after Sunday.
People look at a Gustave Caillebotte painting of a man in a rowboat. People look at three Gustave Caillebotte paintings of boating scenes. People look at Gustave Caillebotte’s painting of a rainy-day street scene in Paris.
