Enough with the portentous Death of Democracy whinging.

Enough with filling out your Autocracy Bingo Cards.

Enough with mournfully quoting Hanna Arendt.

Get together, get active, organize, #MakeGoodTrouble, fundraise, lobby, litigate, protest and fight back.

My set-up table, where I help people get their models ready to fly, can be seen left of my (southern) canopy.

Someone in a blue shirt is walking toward the pad along the line of launch leads. Several people are clustered around the pad, hooking up rockets.
stefanejones.bsky.social
Those blue squares?

Those are mine and my friend George Rachor's shade canopies.

The Google satellite source took a picture while we were flying rockets on some previous month.

The launch pad is at the left; you can see the white launch wires leading to the canopy where the launch panel was.
An overhead view of two shade canopies in a grassy field. Small objects around are people and equipment.

A bit of Whoa, Cool.

During today's rocket launch, a participant who had navigated to the park by Google Maps made a discovery:
A Google Maps satellite view of a grassy field. There is a parking lot to the north. Some trees to the north and south. In the middle of the field are two blue objects.

Back from a rocket launch. Most of the about 60 flights were well-prepared cub scout group. No huge problems; one rocket in a tree, a couple of tumble recoveries and a lost fin.

The scouts and leaders signed a card thanking up for our efforts:
The outside of a "Thank you" greeting card. The inside of a thank-you card with about a dozen signatures.

We will need Nuremberg-like trials

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

It was a reference to England's new name in "1984."

Well, crap.

Whipping up yesterday's batch of chocolate buttercream frosting broke one of the beater drivers of my trusty Oster hand mixer.

It lasted a LONG time -- I burned through two cheaper mixers before finding this about 20 years ago -- but I'm still sad.

Visiting London about eight years back, saw packaged Flapjack mixes (of the oat bar / cookie bar variety) from Pillsbury and the like.

The American revolution brought to you by the Cartoon Network. Love the resisters in Portland!

Shouldn't that be Big Brother Airstrip One?
Trending list from Bluesky. One of the items is "Big Brother UK."

Trek night.

Trek and Ghosts, if I last long enough.

Hardly noticed today:

Trump threatening new China tariffs tanked the stock market.

These people are such fuck-ups. The ones that aren't just plain evil.

Is it horrible of me to hope that the next pandemic starts right in the White House?

Maybe Vought & Miller all start bleeding from their eyes after RFK Jr secretly substitutes raw milk for the break room coffee creamer?

Ngggghhh.

I was real busy baking today and thought I'd treat myself to fish & fries & hushpuppies at LJS.

Ye Cripes, the waffle fries were legit terrible. Cold and soggy. Using them as dog treats.

The fish and shrimp and carb pups were fine.
stefanejones.bsky.social
Yee Cripes!

I remember specials LIKE this one, but not this one in particular.

I'm going to look something up . . .

. . . OK, official amazed that the special wasn't a Sid & Marty Krofft production.

By odd coincidence I bought two marked-down packages of spicy sausage yesterday, with the aim of making just that dish.

Any sauce?

Layer cake iced, cheese cake cooling.

In the morning, I put cherry pie filling glop on the cheesecake.

In the afternoon, after mentoring a model rocket launch, I will delicately slide both cakes into delivery boxes.

Then off to the fundraiser.

I went to a BLM event years ago. Hot sunny day. I had a SUNY Stony Brook alumni baseball cap in the car, and popped it on without thinking.

Got a lot of stares.

Realized later it was red. Ungh.

Chocolate cake layers are cooling. This time I didn't screw up the leavening (I used baking powder on my practice round; they layers hardly rose!) and they look good. Cake bands make a big difference; no huge dome to slice off the layers.

Cream cheese for the cheese cake is coming to room temp.

Fundraiser cake progress:

Made graham cracker crust for cheesecake; currently chilling in the fridge.

Chopped up butter for chocolate cake layers.

Sifted and measured out cake flour.

Put out eggs to come to room temperature.

Feeling tired, but it has to be done.
