Perhaps Tylenol is the cause of Trumpism?

The republicans are always exercising their freedom of speech (and thought) in criticizing the people they hate by accusing those people of hate and implying those people shouldn't have freedom of speech to express their objections to republican hate, nastiness, undermining of health, democracy, etc

Notice that Obama did not praise T's anticipation that this will be a great real estate deal, turning Gaza into a Riviera owned by rich American and Arab interests. Obama reflects the humanity of many in breathing a sigh of relief and hoping the people who have suffered find some measure of peace

Is the NPP Committee’s message too subtle for a certain person’s undamaged ears?
stephenmj.bsky.social
Yes. I realize this is an aspiration. I think all major projects of any kind should require such bonds. They won’t be perfect but they would instill a respect for the temporary nature of human endeavors, the impact they have, the uncertainty of future consequences, the burden on future generations

How many dumb guys are required before they qualify to have a theory? If the president is responsible for everything the admin does, we have a ___ man/person theory; but if there are many responsible intentional enablers and accomplices, we have a __ gang/mass/mess theory

It would be extremely sensible for manufacturers to have some liability for crimes with their guns, but that’s a difficult haul in today’s world; will ai regulation have the same difficulty, even though the product more actively suggests harm than guns are perceived as doing

I haven’t seen anyone addressing a way to turn the lexis/westlaw offer of AI off so that associates and partners in a firm opposed to use of ai can insure no one uses it by mistake. It would be a iseful way to control for mistakes and stupidity.

Just think - it will soon be possible to use ai to write contracts, break or dispute them, sue or be sued, have the dispute adjudicated by an ai judge and appeals courts, and awards made and paid all within a lunch break, without any person reviewing or taking responsibility for anything. Anyone constructing such a center should have to post a massive bond to guarantee proper resource recovery and environmental repair when the data center (like an atomic power plant) is decommissioned or replaced

The world of finance is, while necessary, a nest of potential bubbles

Especially if white and republican. I haven’t heard of any similar charges based on comparable facts against anyone who is white and republican. Ii admin wants to address real federal crimes it should go after internet crime causing 10s B losses to businesses & individuals of all parties.

It is ironic — wholly predictable — that the immunity decision has emboldened djt to engage not only in illegal conduct but also in tenuous retaliatory prosecutions of critics and those he is displeased with if not so far of a former president. SCOTUS has condone retaliation pretending to stop it
stephenmj.bsky.social
Part of the regrettable majority’s decision was based on a highly speculative calculation that absence of immunity would inevitably lead to partisan retaliatory prosecutions of presidents (at least when former) in an unending cycle by presidents of the other party or different views.
stephenmj.bsky.social
All of these baseless or flimsy vindictive federal prosecutions are so clearly a case of the administration throwing a lot at the wall and seeing what, if anything sticks, in the meantime imposing the burdens of defense.
stephenmj.bsky.social
the traditional answer was this is the kind of thing where SCOTUS sets a neutral, wise and workable national standard. But this SCOTUS does not set neutral or wise standards, and standards are only workable when they favor conservative or religious interests, and don't exist otherwise

Would also seem to violate anti-trust laws!

There is a clear common questions: are there any limits to power of President? Ie, is there court review? (If not, country doa) If so, are there minimum requirements for invocation of statute, including procedure and weight of “evidence”? Does clear stated party/political bias undercut deference?
stephenmj.bsky.social
Thx. How much of that can be avoided by satellite photography?

Didn’t Trump complain about Obama getting paid for speeches after he left office?
stephenmj.bsky.social
The constitution does not contemplate wars not declared by congress nor an etrernal state of war. Nor does it defer to presidents on the plain meaning of English words.
