Even at the height of craziness, there were no banks that would give you a mortgage that required 44% of salary to be paid as a repayment. So why is it allowed to happen to rents??? To enrich the wealthy I guess.

#c4dispatches one thing not covered is the effect on jobs indirectly. AI will use up huge amounts of power and water, and if this leads to shortages, how will that affect existing industries not trying to use AI, be it on their supply or the impact on their workforces? This might be a bigger effect

Went with local agent. Changing jobs, wife happy to sit for good price. A family viewed who suited the house perfectly, so we accepted a lower offer. That fell through. Chancer came on scene, we didn't like him. He offered same amount. Our agent pressured us to accept when we didn't want to.
