The tsunami from the 7.4 was well under one meter in height. The earthquake is strike-slip which reduces - but does not eliminate - the tsunami hazard. There may be consequences such as landslides too which may create a larger tsunami than you would expect from the earthquake alone.

Check www.tsunami.gov for #tsunami updates. There will likely be "some" tsunami (there was one measured for the 7.4 there earlier this year) but hopefully small.

So farewell John Lodge who died today aged 82. I listened a lot to the Moody Blues when I was 14-15 and collected lots of vinyl. But unlike other bands I liked at that age that I rediscovered later, I never went back to the Moody Blues. I do still love «To Our Childrens’ Childrens’ Children» …

I've only just realized that today is the 20th anniversary of the 2005-10-08 Kashmir earthquake. A horrific event - over 70,000 killed - I don't know if a final figure ever emerged. I spent years studying this event and its aftershock sequence.
