I made a comment about the US government attacking a Chicago apartment building like SPECWAR breaching a terrorist compound in Kandahar and the responses were "Uh, uh, you made a typo!"

You have to be kidding. Mastodon has to be the absolute worst platforms I've ever had the misfortune of being on. The staggering level of virtue signaling was unreal. I've never been scolded so much in my life. And the interface is absolute garbage. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
