On this day, Season 8 of Thomas & Friends began production. Nobody knew it at the time, but this season would introduce some major changes to the show.

7 minute episodes, an eight engine cast, a new theme tune, learning segments, and a more educational focus.

On this day, More About Thomas The Tank Engine was published as the 30th volume of the Railway Series.

Despite being written so that all of its stories could be adapted for TV, only 3 out of its 4 stories were adapted.

What's your favorite story from this book?

Didn't think Barney history would be so interesting but yet it is!

But anyways, I wanted to recommend this home video that was produced for the show's 10th anniversary. To me, personally, I view this video as the true finale of the whole show.

Taking a short break from posting Thomas stuff for a bit, another show I'm very knowledgeable on is Barney & Friends.

I was a Barney kid growing up and for these last couple years I went down a deep rabbit hole exploring the history of the franchise.

I've probably posted this before but it's so special that I couldn’t resist reposting again. Here is my copy of Sodor: Reading Between The Lines signed by Christopher Awdry himself!

Following up on my mini tribute to Ian McCue, I'd just like to add that Ian's greatest accomplishment was getting the 1983 Down The Mine pilot released. I didn't think it would ever come out, but Ian made it happen.

Thank you once again, Ian.

Ian, you have done a lot for Thomas. Thank you for keeping the legacy of the franchise alive.

I was scrolling through Twitter a while ago and apparently found out that... welp, McCue is gonna retire at the end of this year. Quite a shocker, but I respect his decisions regardless.

This guy has earned my respect, he truly cares about the franchise and I thank him for all the good things he's done for the show. Sad to see him go though.

September 19th, 1988.

On this day, Toby, Trucks, and Trouble was published as the 32nd book of the Railway Series.

This was the first book not to have the word "Engine" in the title and the last to be published under the Kaye & Ward imprint.

What's your favorite story from this book?

James and the Diesel Engines was published on this day as the 28th book of The Railway Series. With the TV series only four weeks away, this would mark the final book to be published prior to the launch of the show.

I'm a few days late on this, but here's a newspaper article of Britt Allcroft signing the deal with Fuji TV to launch Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends in Japan.

Season 12, but the face trackers are spotted.

I love Michael Angelis narrating The Railway Series. I only wish his narration wasn't interrupted by the songs. It's pretty annoying having to constantly interrupt a story so a song from the HIT era can play. But hey, that's just my opinion. Feel free to disagree with me.

Found this old newspaper article that advertises the Railway Series book, Really Useful Engines. The book had only been out for a week.

"I'm sorry I was rude," said Thomas, as Percy helped him back to the shed.
"That tank of mine turned me into a bigger drip than we expected, didn't it? Can we be friends again, please?"
Percy was delighted to agree.

Decide which candidate out of the candidates in that convention you would nominate for President and Vice-President.

I've been learning a lot about those conventions and it has been very interesting, so I thought I'd pitch that idea to you.

@iammrbeat.bsky.social Hey Mr. Beat, I've got a suggestion that you could use for a future video or stream of yours. Recently, I went on a rabbit hole on analyzing the Democratic and Republican conventions and I thought it'd be a fun idea to go through every convention and...

Rest in peace, Edgar Hodges. In my opinion, The Railway Series' most underrated illustrator, he captured the Peter Edwards style beautifully, he should've been brought back to illustrate the series proper.
