I think my favourite view is from #CityThameslink station across to #TowerBridge and both sides of the #Thames and the water gently rippling to the dark sand and shingle of both banks. I'd love to time travel and experience the view through the centuries and try mud #larking #daydreams

Loved #Amsterdam. Visited for the first time. Particularly impressed by safe, separate lanes in the city for cyclists. Not so impressed by airport taxis, which seriously overcharge. The cafe coffee culture, and souvenir shops were a source of amusement. 🙈🙊😆

I think often Select Committees are #tokenistic and also test the #temperature of social situations. What is actually done in response and what the agendas really are may be based on political strategy and #marketforces imho. Democracy is not necessarily truly democratic unfortunately I think

"Berkeley Homes are threatening to destroy the heart of Peckham and its community by demolishing the Aylesham Centre and turning it into luxury flats with just 50 social homes out of 867 new properties." And, as usual, those 50 social homes are likely to disappear.

The average rent across the UK has reached an all-time high, with the typical advertised rent hitting £1,577 per calendar month (pcm) in August. In London, this average climbed to £2,699, according to Rightmove

Apalling and #shockingfigures are #evidenced in this research. Chronic #poverty in housing also seems to be getting worse too. I've seen people looking through neighbourhood refuse bins and pulling out items left behind to use. Seen begging for staple #food items, #children picking out of #bins.

More than 13,000 people were seen sleeping rough on the streets of London in 2024/25 - the highest on record.

This is almost 4x higher than 15 years ago, in 2008/2009, and a 10% increase in just 12 months.

The opening of a blood plasma center in a city leads to a 12% drop in the crime rate, an effect driven primarily by property and drug-related offenses.

Typical pay is $30-$70 per visit with an allowable frequency of twice per week, for a total of about $400 a month on average for twice-weekly donors.

Researchers directly connected the crime reduction impacts of the blood plasma income as approximating what we could likely see with a UBI of similar size
