I plan to actually revisit this project and go the whole 9 yards. Not sure if I'll share it because sometimes social media can get me stuck in my head and I don't want it to affect how I think about the project, BUT we'll see.

ANYWAY thank you if you read all my ramblings 🙇

If you made it this far then you get a random fact, but when I started this small project I was very afraid of coloring any of my stuff, I had never tackled making an illustration like that NOR had I ever done this much work for a personal project. Something about fighting games pushed me though.

LASTLY here are the old sketches that led up to this. Aside from being inspired by Darkstalkers or Skullgirls, I think the reason I made it about fish-folk was because for some reason I would randomly draw fish people??? I have no idea why. The only NEW new one is Shrimp (she's my favorite too 😌)

AND YES I even made up movesets for them because you can't design a fighting game character without a moveset 😤Back then I was watching Xrd and SFV videos like everyday, so I was proud I knew what motions should lead to what kind of moves lol. Still surprised I made these back then.

When I was making this I was looking to be a character designer so that means I had to have turnarounds of some sort. I tried to draw them how I imagined they'd pose in the game because I was imagining it would be hand drawn like Skullgirls. I had started animations for them, but...I lost them 😔

I had 4 characters in my head at the time. From left to right starting from the top we got: Coral, Moro, Shrimp (I think?), and Crunch. The names were totally made up on the spot but I still like them. Don't ask why Crunch has two mouths, he's sensitive (real talk I just thought it was cool)

Shared this on Twitter a bit ago, but was thinking about it again so I figured I'd share it here as well. Back when I started realizing how cool FGs were I was like "wow I want to make my own characters" so I did this short little project where the characters are all fish people!
