AB 1362 is now law — a first-in-the-nation step to prevent immigrant labor trafficking.

Now comes the hard part: ensuring enforcement and expanding protections until every visa worker is covered.

California just made history.
@governor.ca.gov signed #AB1362, the first law in the U.S. to regulate foreign labor recruiters—protecting 40K+ workers from exploitation and trafficking.

A big step forward, but awareness is key and more work remains to expand protections to all.

Over the past few years, I’ve been fascinated with one of the largest federal investigations happening in Georgia, known as Operation Blooming Onion. So I partnered with Zaydee Sanchez to uncover the untold story of an unnamed victim at the heart of the case. 🧵

SJI stands in solidarity! The Supreme Court’s decision allowing racial profiling during immigration raids puts vulnerable communities at greater risk of trafficking. Fear of targeting keeps victims silent, while traffickers exploit the system unchecked. We stand with those affected.
