They think that if you once said something nice about someone, then you are now in their clique and they get discombobulated qhen you then disagree with that same person. Then they accuse you of "petty drama" and "pointless infighting" because it's not about the politics, but the personalities.
That's because online political spaces are heavily focused on personalities and parasocial relationships, not politics. So when you criticise someone's politics, they take it as you criticising their entire personality and character. This is why they form cliques and water down their opinions.
